Hi Trekkers,

A friend saw this photo of mine on another website, and immediately exclaimed the above... That's the short story of the title. However, it's really true the "nickname" of the Irish island is "The Emerald Isle" - as this territory is one of the rainiest in Europe, and this kind of green is rarely visible elsewhere in this continent...

Photo location was Fota Arboretum, one of my favourite places in Ireland. Shot was taken in manual exposure mode and except for re-sizing, there was no PP at all.

At the end, I made a little summary about the Irish weather extremities, compared to the same datas of my home country, Hungary (oceanic climate vs. wet continental):

Rainfall records:
Highest annual total: Ireland 3964.9 mm (1960), Hungary 1554.9 mm (2010).
Highest monthly total: Ireland 790.0 mm (1996), Hungary 444 mm (1956).
Highest daily total: Ireland 243.5 mm (1993), Hungary 260 mm (1953).
Highest hourly total: Ireland 52.2 mm (1986), Hungary 120 mm (1988).
Lowest annual total: Ireland 356.6 mm (1887), Hungary 203 mm (2000).

Temperature records:
Highest air temperature: Ireland 33.3°C (1887), Hungary 41.9°C (2007).
Lowest air temperature: Ireland -19.1°C (1881), Hungary -35.0°C (1940).

Sunshine Records
Highest annual sunshine duration: Ireland ca. 1800 hrs (no data), Hungary 2645 hrs (2012).

Atmospheric Pressure records:
Highest mean sea level pressure: Ireland 1051.9 hpa (1905), Hungary 1055.9 hpa (1907).
Lowest mean sea level pressure: Ireland 931.2 hpa (1838), Hungary 969.7 hpa (1976).

Wind Records:
Highest wind speed in a gust: Ireland 181.5 km/h (1961), Hungary 171.7 km/h (2010).

Thanks for looking and reading.

Hello Laszlo,
I like your informative NOTE first, then picture 😉
Although not such attractive view, but you have presented well what you wanted to show us. Good details and shadow areas are also detailed well. Good light and reflection.
