[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On our recent trip through Queensland we spent some time on the far north coast where there are extensive rainforests and lush vegetation around the towns. On forest walks and where we were staying I started spotting lots of colourful butterflies so I thought that I’d try photographing them to provide some Australian butterflies on TN. Identifying them was also tricky for a butterfly novice.
It wasn’t easy but I did capture a few.
So here is my first one - a colourful female Cairns Birdwing (Arnithoptera Priamus). It is Australia’s largest butterfly with a wingspan of up to 15 cm.
The light wasn't good so I had to go for a high ISO, hence a bit of noise.

Hi Ian,just a bit of noise in background but this capture is a masterwork in this difficult light considering the black parts of this species too. What a big beauty,i wish to see one day a wonderful butterfly like this, magnificent design and colors in a great close up!! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

A step back could help to cover the trunk,
It was a hard task due to its dark colour,
But you managed this well,
Good shot.

Ciao Ian, great macro of fantastic butterfly, fine details, splendid sharpness and wonderful natural colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
