Aricia allous

Nome Volgare: Aricia di montagna
Famiglia: Lycaenidae.
Lunghezza ala anteriore mm. 22-27
Maschio: colore bruno scuro, con tratto discocellulare nero nelle ali anteriori. Aree lunulari submarginali di colore arancione generalmente assenti nelle ali anteriori e presenti solo in parte nelle ali posteriori.
Rovescio: colore bruno grigiastro chiaro, con serie di spazi submarginali arancio che tendono a unirsi in una fascia continua. Disegno puntiforme nero contornato di bianco. Punti basali delle ali anteriori assenti.
Femmina: Simile al maschio ma con ali più arrotondate.
Distribuzione: Alpi e aree più elevate degli Appennini e della Sicilia.
Habitat: prati e radure dei piani montano e cacuminale, da 600 sino a circa 2400 metri s.l.m.
Generazioni annuali: una, con sfarfallamento degli adulti in luglio-agosto.
Piante nutrici: Helianthemum nummularium, Geranium sanguineum, Geranium sylvaticum.

Common Name: Aricia di montagna
Family: Lycaenidae.
Front wing length mm. 22-27
Male: dark brown color, with a discocellular black line in the front wings. Orange submarginal lunar areas generally absent in the front wings and only partially present in the hind wings.
Reverse: light grayish brown color, with series of orange submarginal spaces that tend to join in a continuous band. Black pinpoint design surrounded by white. Basal points of the absent fore wings.
Female: Similar to the male but with more rounded wings.
Distribution: Alps and higher areas of the Apennines and Sicily.
Habitat: meadows and clearings of the mountain and cacuminal planes, from 600 up to about 2400 meters s.l.m.
Annual generations: one, with flickering of adults in July-August.
Feeding plants: Helianthemum nummularium, Geranium sanguineum, Geranium sylvaticum. |

Hi Silvio,
Effective photo, perfect background blur and colors. Left wing is pin sharp, but the right was a bit too closed to the lens, so some details were lost as the focus was rather on the flower. However, looking at the entire image this mistake is not that much distracting.
