[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Scarlet-chested Sunbird Chalcomitra senegalensis Nectariniidae ,, small, nectrarivorous & insectivorous birds with thin, mostly decurved bills. They are fond of spiders, Paul and Gerhard, and Howard, those small ones are dessert. Some also use the spider’s webs as nest building material. These birds are generally sexually dimorphic, the M having iridescent plumage and sometimes elongated central tail feathers. No relation to the hummingbirds, sunbirds do not habitually hover like hummers. Back to Mr Red-chest – the M is black, with a scarlet chest, which is diagnostic. There is some green below the chin and on the head, but the lighting must be perfect, wish was not so here. A common resident to the north of our region. The flower is the same Coral tree posted earlier!

Hi Callie. another very nice avian shot from you. Seems you are lucky, near Taipei, I would almost never get such a nice blue sky to shoot against. The colors and exposure here are great, but it does appear a little soft to me. It is very close, but the eye of the bird just seems slightly off. Maybe your camera caught the flower instead of the head in its AF? Anyways, this is very good, but maybe not as good as I am used to from you.

Callie jou doring! This is breathtakingly beautifull, yah, the vivid colors as well as the placement of your subject..amazing!

merci ;)

Nice one.
Excellent composition and colours.
A little soft as mentioned but I love it.
A good capture,well done.

A nice flower and a nice bird. This is a nice composition Callie. It may be soft as they say but stil a great catch.

Beautiful composition, I dont know what makes me more fascinated, the bird or the flower. The quality is not your best but is very good considering the 400 mm FL. Thats what happens when you get us used to good quality, you get my critics :D
Thanks for your contribution to TN.

Callie, Your shot is alive with vibrant color against a beautiful blue sky. I find the birds coloration with the red chest & blue marking fits into the shot against this blue sky in a very unique way. Regardless of the afore-mentioned softness, this photo has great impact. I like it!!

Beautiful bird, the colours and composition are excellent. I do agree with Darren that the focus on the bird is a little soft. However, it's a good capture. Well done Callie.

I like the composition. Ilike the colours, the contrast between. But, it not so sharp, some blur is present. Anyone, is a lovely bird.

ziet er heel zonnig uit :o)
very nice colours good contrast and nice match with the red flower and red on the bird.maybe the bird could be a little sharper. but its not that easy to photograph them.but the colours are marvelous!
