This is Staphylus ceos, a subtropical butterfly from Hesperidae family. It ranges from Mexico to Southwestern US. The flower it's preparing to have a meal from, belongs to the species Cirsium arizonicum, an endemic thistle with an areal restricted to Arizona.

I like this shot especially the dark BG. Was that taken at night?
