Male Ibex the wild goat of the Desert.Inhabit roke cliffs, is the king of the desert crage. Males may weigh up to 60 kg and females to 30 kg.the male ibexes fight for their status in the herd and the right to mate with the females. The desert ibex could not always be observed. In the past they were hunted almost to the point of extinction and only thanks to the protection afforded them by the preserve can they be seen today. The male herd is separate from the females and kids and they only come together in the rutting season. Their color blends with the colors of the desert and they are difficult to distinguish from a distance. They spend the nights high up on the cliffs, coming down in the morning to the river beds, with each female leading her kid between the bluffs.

Hello Eyal,

Nice to see some great action from you again. Now this is definatelly how I imagine Israel in therms of wildlife... The adult is a splendid specimen, those horns and that beard (talk about the word "goatie" , :) huh..) do people still hunt these there ?

Fantastic POV of this ibex, Eyal. The baby under him is a wonderful addition. A superb portrait of this animal in his natural habitat. The horns are very impressive. Great job and TFS. : )

I never saw this animal during my recent trip to Southern Israel. It is a beautiful creature and you have got a very good photo of it!
