Canada Goose
Branta canadensis
Well known for their V-shaped migrating flocks and rich, sonorous honking, Canada Geese are among the most familiar of North America's waterfowl. There are 11 geographical races, ranging in size from the "Giant Canada Goose" of the northern prairies to the diminutive "Cackling Goose," scarcely larger than the Mallard, which nests in the Yukon and winters mainly in California. The most abundant race is the one that nests south of Hudson Bay, which numbers well over a million, while the rarest is the Aleutian Islands form, which nests on only two small islands and numbers barely over a thousand. Like other geese, these birds are chiefly grazers, feeding on stubble fields and eating marsh vegetation. Increasingly tolerant of humans, some even nest in city parks and suburbs. They are especially noticeable in late summer and early fall, when they form molting flocks on golf courses and large lawns; at such times, they have come to be regarded as pests.
description Small races, 22-26" (56-66 cm); large races, 35-45" (89-114 cm). Brownish body with black head, long black neck, conspicuous white cheek patch. The smaller Brant has a shorter neck and lacks white cheek patch
Photographed at the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, Arundel, Sussex.

I Michael,
I really like the effect you've created on the water again.
The turquoise mixed with light blue is simply magic.
Maybe you could have remove the noise in the upper left side of the picture.
Nicely done !!!

The colors on the water are just beautiful, Michael. A gorgeous backdrop for your Canadian goose, which is very sharp and is presented in a great POV. Well done and TFS. : )

Hola Michael: Los colores, las formas y el difumidado del fondo son adorables, una hermosa composición que refleja muy bien dos cosas:
1. la belleza del ave y
2. la belleza de un momento excelentemente captado por del fotógrafo.
Saludos cordiales. *Ninfa Urania*

Hi Michael,
A majestic guy captured with amazing details! I like your centred composition, and the reflections are just beautiful...

I am not a big fan of "duck in the pond" shots but yours isnt the boring kind, rather striking and wonderful in chromatic and compositional aspects.

Hi Michael,
The shot is excellent! Very nice detail and depth. The colors in the water really make this one stand out. Well done!
