The little beauty shines like a jewel. It's a pity the BG has a bit too much "clutter" as CJ would call it.

Hi Lesley
Ambrosia i think it is called. I love hummers too, but sadly, we have none in Africa. Splendis picture and lovely irridescence.

A masterpiece, Lesley. Really. It is true that I am a Ruby-throated Hummingbird's fan.
And perhaps I do not have an objective glance, but this photograph is unique and unless I am mistaken it does not have its similar on TN. TFS.

Excellent capture Lesley, it's perfect with the exception of that seedstalk in the foreground, apart from that..wow.

A great picture Lesley. I have always liked hummingbirds. I have never seen any though. So it is nice to see pictures of them at least.

Absolutely fantastic capture Lesley. Wonderful clarity on the back and the wings are so beautiful thanks to a very clever choise of shutter speed. Colours and dof are spot on as well as the cropping/composition. This is a real second to non capture - congratulations.

I can not believe what I see! The details on this jewel is FANTASTIC, tack sharp. The irridescence of the feathers captured to perfection. I mourn the appearance of the seedstalk along with Paul. As I have said before... consistently excellent photo's. Keep 'em comming, always a pleasure to look at your work.
Handheld? and focal lenght? I am just curious.

Very good Lesley.
Nice colours, good sharpness and composition.
Good note.
Great job.
This is a beauty and definately on my wish list. If I see this, I will probably be shaking so much that I will make a mess of it.
Thanks for posting

Lesley, Great shot with the hummingbird's body sharp and the movement of the wings beautifully visible. Even with some detail in the wings. I told callie before that this will be my next lens investment. You only confirm my choice.

Great portrait of a wonderful bird.
The details in their plumage are excellent like the clearness obtained by a suitable election of the values of the image.
In the flowers exists some type of cromatic aberration that I do not know the reason... Do you know it?

This is the type of hummingbird photo I wanted to take this past summer. I recently posted one of my "not so bad ones" but it does not compare to this one, Lesley, even with its "clutter".
Here, sharpeness, colours and details are amazing. The hummingbird and the flower are beautifully composed. This image has a dynamic and a poetic feel.

Lovely picture, made better by seeing the bird feeding at a plant rather than a bird feeder, or hovering in mid-air when the feeder is cropped, as in so many hummingbird pictures. Pin-sharp, and peautiful colors.

Bravo Lesley pour cette magnifique photo d'oiseau mouche aspirant le nectar. Trés beau piqué et en même temps impression de la grande vitesse du battement des ailes (D'aprés les physiologites 800 battement par seconde !!)Didier.

WOAW !! I was about to post a pic with a little butterfly, taken without tripod, of which I was somehow proud, but now that I see yours, I feel very very far from your absolutely astonishing shot! It's beautiful, light is perfect. It seems to have been designed by a poet...
