[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
At last, I have managed to get a reasonable, not brilliant, shot of one of the pair that stays in my garden. A beautiful bird with a great song - wonderful to watch!

Was taken in jpg format, then worked in CS2, adjusted levels, sharpened and cropped, then resized to site.

Hi Tim1
What a great bird! Amazing pose and very nice colours. I wolud like to meet him in the forest but in Poland.... it's imposible ;-)

I allways taught of this bird to be showy and spectacular (that's what I see from Europe), although I know now that is quite common in Africa.
I have the same feeling about the American Blue Jay, a very comon bird in America.
I allways enjoy like a kid anytime I see these two birds posted!

Regards, Petru

Hi Tim
An excellent composition on this Barbet. I really like the way you have used the natural elements to frame him in the photo. The light looks great, and it has rendered some soft beautiful colors. Detail is sharp, and your control over the DOF is perfect here. Well Done!

This is a beautifully colored woodpecker Tim. Good color and detail. In my experience, the single most important factor with small birds is simply getting close enough to fill the frame..I do not use IS on the smaller, still frame bird shots, but rely on plenty of light, a tripod, wired remote and my Kenko 1.4X tele. We have the same camera & lens BTW. Also, JPEG will never give you the room for error that raw format does..
Anyway, Well done &
Thank You!

Hello Tim,
pose is excellent, good work. Very good sharpness, details, colours and composition. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent DOF and composition. I like the pose a lot even when I know you would like a head on shot a LOT more. Very good colours and great detail.

Well done and keep trying. You'll get a brilliant shot one day.

Nice shot, Tim. Pity the eye is not very clear. Nice composition.
