[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Lioness was taken in the Kalahari sands of Botswana. Well more specifically in the shade of the A-frame in one of the campsites (some of you have seen another shot - of her son). Here she bares her teeth (all 4cm of them) making it very difficult for me to concentrate on keeping the camera still as you can imagine at 5m or so.

I hope you enjoy it!! I did, at least after calming down again. :)

Excellent capture. Maybe she was smiling!

Wow, dangerous smile! What concentration? I would run the hell outa' there and promise myself to learn taking good shots while running.
That was quite a bravery from you. Would you repeat it?

Regards, Petru

Great close up and very brave. Glad to say I have never seen the mouth of a lioness so close up. TFS. Dean.

Hello Reinier,

Good moment, apity because is a little out of focus.

Très impressionnant et on comprend que vous be vous soyez pas trop attardé. Très belle expression de cette lionne

Well timed shot but slightly out of focus. Never the less, a well taken opportunity! Well Done. Sheriff

Good post - good timing, justa pity very slightly soft of focus, or is that camera shake!! TFS

Absolutely an eyecatcher! Very telling portrait. It makes my heart go faster when I look at it. Well composed, no compromises. Being a little out of focus doesnot matter to me at all. It tells me of the quick action required in documentary photography, and the danger you have been in. God bless you. I know why I prefer to capture butterflies. Congratulations!
Best regards, Peter

Yes, I enjoy and understand how difficult it was to stay calm in front of this feline and make a shot... Congratulations Reinier and thanks for sharing.

Hoi Reinier, wauw this is wildlife! With your comments, I can imagine that theres a little bit of movement. Today I was joking to collegues that its more dangerous to travel too amsterdam by car than to visit south africa, and that lions are lots of fun. With your impressive picture I think I will have too come back on this subject.
Thanks for sharing Reina

What an amazing capture. Reinier. i can't believe you actually stood in front of this lioness with nothing but a camera between you.
A shot of a lifetime, extraordinarily executed considering the circumstances. My hat off to you. TFS. : )

Uuuu, she's really angry :-) Very well captured, perfect moment. She liked you Reinier [as a dinner candidate ;-)].

Hello Reinier,
Very nice shot! That´s a very dramatic atmosphere. That´s not for me. I am to slow!
This is a difficult and dangerous action shot. I like it - but please don´t repeat it. Very well done!

Impressionnant. Je ne voudrais pas faire son repas.

Hi Reinier,
Now that is a mouthful of big teeth!. Great timing to catch this shot. I love the frame filling shots. I would have camera shake if this lion was doing this to me from that close. Well done!

Wow I think if it was me I was still running... I must say you are very brave although there is a little bit of camera shake :-). I like the pose and enjoy your photo alot. Well done.

Hi Reinier,
wow, dangerous shot - I like it very much.

Superbe capture ! Je suppose que le coeur battait très fort dans votre poitrine lors de ce shoot. Très belle netteté et, en plus, dans ces conditions. Congratulations. Gérard

Hi Reinier,

She's scaring me, but what a great capture.Just a pity out of focus. But I will be running and not take any picture. For sure. Regards and staying TFS Bob

Excellent shot! There is a bit of camera shake,... but the subject makes the picture awsum.

One of the "BEST" images I've seen.
