Matney Knob Ozark National Forest

Summit in Baxter County, Arkansas, USA.
Latitude: N36.20639 : Longitude: W092.31583 : Elevation: 1180 ft

I made my annual mountain bike ride to the top of Matney Knob today. This montage documents my trip up this Ozark Mountain. From the lower left counterclockwise:
1. A trail on the way to the mountain that also has an abundance of papaws (Arkansas Bananas. Hopefully this fall I’ll take some pictures for you.) 2. Actual trail up the mountain looking back down. 3. A vista through an opening on the way up. 4. The sign marking the trail head for hikers. I visited with an older couple out hiking near the top who were on their way back down. 5. My bike at the top. Made it… I like making this ride when the leaves are off of the trees so I can enjoy the view. This view is typical of Ozark Mountain tops. There is so much vegetation that you can’t really see anything much when the leaves are on the bushes and trees…;-( 6. A view across a pretty valley of the mountain taken on my way back home. 7. Today’s sunset from my back deck with the mountain three miles distant as the crow flies after I got back home.

It takes me twenty minutes to ride from my house to the Shied Bridge. See WS. From the bridge it is another 45 minutes to the top. From the top back down to the bridge is only 10 minutes. I took a little longer today since I stopped to take some pictures. I hope you enjoy sharing my little trek up this Ozark Mountain.

Montage created with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 Photomerge™ Panorama.
