Polymmatus icarus, common blue butterfly. As the name indicates, this is the most common of the little blue butterflies. These have a wingspan of 27-37mm, the average is 31mm. This butterfly can be found all over Europe. Although these are listed as common, they can be hard to spot. I for my part haven't seen very many yet this year.
I came across this mating pair when heading home from an outing one afternoon. They were sitting on top of this withered plant looking as if they were glued together. I watched them for about half an hour, took loads of photos and creeping closer and closer, adding my +2 lens etc. They didn't react to anything but each other ;-)
Treatment: Crop, contrast +10, saturation +10, brightness +5, USM and resize.

Perfect capture of these little beauties Bente. Perfect use of limited dof blurring the background and the colours are spot on as well as the composition.

I was waiting to the butterflies... I had seen so many beautiful exemplars on TE, now it will be very nice to get them all in one Nature site.

Thank you for the good note and the lovely and extremely sharp image Bente, both butterflies fill the composition beautifully...

Welcome to TN, nice capture of this pair of blue`s ,nicely isolated from the background they stand out well, glad you were not tempted to rotate them to balannce up the picture. even with F16 the DOF is very tight, you have both sets of antenae in focus but the front of the flower bud is forward. This is a good post hard to capture normally so shy, nice one.

Great details here Bente, the DOF is just right and details spot on, very well taken

Siamese Twins?
Bente, this is beautiful, I like the opposed diagonals formed by these two b'flies. This is a splendid shot!

Excellent work as usual! You've captured these two very nicely indeed. The colours and detail are splendid, and the DOF is well chosen too. My only suggestion would be to experiment with rotating the image a little - I know this was close to reality, but a different angle might add some extra spark to the composition! Good capture :-D

Amazing. The detail is excellent and both the subjects are in crisp and sharp focus. You seem to have captured the iridescence in the wings. This photo has a good composition and the notes are imformative.

Congratulation for TN,dear Bente!
Glad to see you here.
A very nice natural symmetry with those B.fly you creat in a good way, with well managed the DOF and very nice for watching to details, amazing & very beautiful.
The color of background is very proportional with subject which make a fine contrast, great work you did for it.
And the composition with this POV is great.Well done!
Very beautiful.

Hard work pays good dividends. Everything in this photo is perfect. DOF master with this take. Nice story too. The black and white contrast on the face and antennae are intriguing. Double WOW. Thanx for sharing.

Belle prise. Bonne composition. Excellente image, un régal visuel par la richesse et la précisions des détails. Bravo Bente!

Looking quickly on the thumbnail, it looks like ONE butterfly. Beautiful composition of a tender moment. Technically perfect, so, the only thing to do is to contemplate. A rewarding shot after a day out. Very well done, Bente.

Love this... it's a flawless capture, Bente! It reminds of a song way before my time..." Dancing Cheek To Cheek" errr...I do realize they aren't exactly pressing cheeks together! Super photo.
