Very appealing composition, and quite an unusual surrounding for that moth. A bit soft on focus, but for a slide scan or flatbed scan of an old photograph of 1993 as good as it can be.
It is a male of the "Great Peacock Moth" (Saturnia pyri L.), with a wingspan of 120 - 160mm the size of a bat and the largest moth that can be found in Europe. Thank you for sharing that beautiful picture with us.
