[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Good morning all! Here's a shot taken in Lapinjärvi (about 90km east of Helsinki in Finland) last sunday afternoon. Here's another of the lonely trees I found on the field at the other side of the river. I did some corrections to the photo in PS and turned it into a more blueish tone. Finally I added the vignetting and frame.

Hope you like it. Comments and critiques are welcomed.

Félicitations pour cette belle composition qui nous rend nostalgique.

Merci pour cet atmosphère unique.

Really a particular atmosphere!
Nice soft withe, and nice tree!
Good work, bye Tom

Thats beautiful... wish we got snow like that, but as usual it's raining outside.

very nice - the blue feel works really well and emphasises the loneliness.

Very peaceful shot - the bare tree makes a great contrast against the flat forgound and low horizon.

Belle photo, glacée, figée...
la lumière est belle et l'ensemble agréable à l'oeil.
Bravo et merci !

Great shot Paavo, very nice composition. I like the bluish tone used, gives a sense of coldness.

Hi Paavo,
Another great shot, the soft lighting is great and the vignetting works well again.

It is the shape of the lefless tree sticking out the expanse of white that gives the composition its aesthetic value.
The dark line of trees in the mid background separating the earth from the sky adds another dimension to it.
The tree is well placed in the entire composition.

Hi Paavo

Wonderful shot. Good POV and light. Sharp with crisp, clear details. Good work. Thanks.

Very nice capture. Beautiful tone. Composition and contrast are good. Thank you.

Excellent. No need for more words.
Pablo -

What a great old tree. Wonderful branching with good contrast. I like what you did to it. TFS

Pure winter eerie gloomy frenzy. Almost like a 19th century lithography but only in colors.

Hello Paavo
Nice and soft photo of this cold winter landscape.
Very well done!
Greetings Jan-Arie

Not sure if you are still active on TN, but I'll offer my comment and ask a question anyway.

This is much more than a photograph of nature, it is an art piece that conveys a wonderful mood. I think the vignetting is very important to the effectiveness of the final image.

Now for my question- have you seen anything like the sea smoke vortices that I showed in my first 3 TN posts? Do you know of anyone else who has seen such? I don't know if the Baltic freezes too fast, but it seems likely there would be something like this when the water is still warm, but the air reaches -20 to -25°C.

I've tried to find people who have seen this phenomenon, but without success. I would greatly appreciate a reply if possible. If you want to respond, please go directly through the TN contact function and we can use email.

beautiful and artistic, TFS Ori
