It was a case of 'now you see it, now you don't'. Fortunately it came back (chuckle).
Brilliant in flight capture of an insect that I can barely photograph while it is sitting still. Wow. No wonder they call these helicopters.
It is a lovely composition with exceptional colours, great DOF that captured very nice details, and perfect exposure control.
Very well done and TFS.

Hi Chi, excellent shot!
Lovley focus and action. The lighting looks great. Very well done on this one.
I'm not so sure that this belongs to the Gomphidae family though, the eyes looks to be touching at the top.

Hope my last post didn't offend you, it's supposed to be cute, especially when most people are trying to figure out how Chi gets up an close to all those animals without spooking them. My theory is that you disquised yourself in a human size koala costume with your camera to get great images just like this really cool dragonfly you captured. :)

It is very difficult to remove flying insects - I know. Bravo!
Excellent shot, I have a similar one that I haven't posted yet. Always nice to a dragon in flight and you've done very well here.
I don't think you've got the ID right, but info on Australian dragonflies is hard to find. Have a look at this link http://photos.rnr.id.au/2006/0114/dragonfly_Hemicordulia_australiae_Yarra060114-0377.jpg
and I think you'll find you have captured a Australian Emerald Hemicordulia australiae

I was going through all your pics. I am very much impressed. One thing that beats me is how are you able to catch pictures of creatures in flight so beautifully. I am sure you have a secret, you are willing to let me into.
