Osprey & Blue

|Today there was a bit of blue sky. My sister and I went for a short hike (in the rain), saw a huge herd of Elk, and then went down to the Osprey nest to take some shots. Most of the sky was cloudy but the bird cooperated and I got this shot. |
Scientific name: Pandion haliaetus
Size: 21-24 1/2 in. long; wingspread 54-72 in
One of the most widely distributed birds in the world.
They do not breed until they are 3 years old.
Weight Males 2 lbs. 10 oz. to 3 lbs. 8 1/2 oz.;
Weight Females 2 lbs. 12 oz. to 4 lbs. 3 3/4 oz.
Flight Speed: 20 - 80 m.p.h.

After spending today trying to shoot birds in flight for the first time I can appreciate just how hard it is! A very nice shot, good exposure and detail, nicely framed.
