Today there was a bit of blue sky. My sister and I went for a short hike (in the rain), saw a huge herd of Elk, and then went down to the Osprey nest to take some shots. Most of the sky was cloudy but the bird cooperated and I got this shot.
Scientific name: Pandion haliaetus
Size: 21-24 1/2 in. long; wingspread 54-72 in
One of the most widely distributed birds in the world.
They do not breed until they are 3 years old.
Weight Males 2 lbs. 10 oz. to 3 lbs. 8 1/2 oz.;
Weight Females 2 lbs. 12 oz. to 4 lbs. 3 3/4 oz.
Flight Speed: 20 - 80 m.p.h. |

That turned out well, I love that he's just positioned in the blue. Considering how hard it was to shot this moving target, you did well!

Hi Julie,
After spending today trying to shoot birds in flight for the first time I can appreciate just how hard it is! A very nice shot, good exposure and detail, nicely framed.
