A sweet and pleasant creature? II

Red Fox (female with a Mallard Duck)
Vulpes vulpes

I dedicate this photo to my old friend Gert Ellstrom (ellis49).
Yes, some times Mallard can be usefull. This one will nourish four babies plus their mother. I took this photo this morning under a cloudy and rainy sky meadows of their den. Some days ago I found the den by following the female (I will call her Lucy, unless you find a better name for her) during her hunting. I posted a large view of the den as a WS.
Even if the quality on the photo is not to its best, I am proud of it. In a situation like this one, I realize the limits of my equipment. If you know somebody ready to invest on a poor photographer... ;-)
I will often return to this place in the days to come to follow the growth of the babies. There are marshes in the vicinity. I saw some insects this morning... and my first Great Blue Heron of the Spring!!!
I wish to all of you beautiful photographs. It is a pleasure of looking at them. I know that I am rather miserly of critics/comments these times. I humbly excuse myself. I should have more time to devote to it soon.

Thank you for looking.

Bonjour Luc,
A perfect moment you have caught with this shot.
How lucky for you to have found this fox family to follow. : )
The death of the beautiful mallard is easier to take, knowing it is contributing to the survival of a family of foxes.
Such is the cycle of nature.
Merci pour l'envoie. : )

Oh Luc, this sweet and pleasant creature, Lucy Fox, has turned into a vicious beast of prey!! But she does have 4 babes to feed, and we do have an over-abundance of mallards on this planet... So, I say: "Go for it Lucy!"
Cheers Luc,
Janice :))))

Hi Luc,
thanks for this one, I'm very honoured.
It's good to see a red fox, they was very common before the disease, the fox scabies almost killed all the red foxes up here but now they have recovered very good.
Maybe the quality is not the best but it does not matter when you can get an action like this.
Well composed, good POV and nice colours.
Great work, my young brother and old friend.

Hi Luc!
Two your pictures and two sides of nature. Todays is also very good. Cruel [for human] moment, but not for this beautifull fox. I like brown colours and fat tail. Good work MF!

well captured shot LUC
not easy to take a shot like this one. me and my wife where last year in Belgium and we saw a fox. It was only 100 meter away and that was it. so I find it a very good composition and a nice capture, well doen my friend.

Hello Luc,

I had to smile at your comment, "Yes, some times Mallard can be useful."

I believe that it is the wish of most photographers to capture wild life in its natural environment as you have done here.

In this regard I am a bit envious (but in a friendly way) of your incredible experience concerning this wonderful fox, et family.

I look forward to the continuing saga, and appreciate the efforts that you make to bring us such great images.

Thank you, Luc.

Great capture Luc,we have a couple as well in my yard, just could'nt find their den...early in the morning like 7 am they like to stay in my deck but once they see me they started to go away so no time to take a shot...anyway this is great photo...

Hi Luc
Ha-ha-ha, another excellent mallard shot, well, almost. This vixen is not just a proud mother (as seen on your previous posting), but she is also a good mother. I am sure these mallards don't just sit around waiting for a hungry fox to sneak up and grab them. They can fly pretty well as Gert so many times showed us in his unique way.
Excellent shot of the woes and gains of nature. The ones death is the other ones feast. Lovely composition, great colours, good DOF with nice details, and the exposure were well managed under the testing circumstances.
Very well done and TFS.

Hi Luc

I wonder if she will pluck the duck and serve it in orange sauce? Seriously, this is a very good shot. What a treat to be able to see all this in their natural habitat. :-)

Excellent photo Luc,
