The snow leopard (Uncia uncia).

The snow leopard is a cat of average size. The body measures between 1m and 1,50m, and the tail is rather long: approximately 80cm.
Its fur, very thick, is clear gray to yellowish, and carries black tasks and ocellas.
Its legs are rather short, and the feet comprise bearings broad and equipped with dense hairs which facilitate its displacements on snow.
It lives in the mountainous areas of the Himalayas and the Central Asia (Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal...).
It moves and hunts out in the rock grounds and bush, and we can see it only rarely below the limit of the trees.
It is an efficient predator, and eats wild sheep and goat's, ibexes. Its preys are often really larger than itself. It hunts lonely.
It reaches its sexual maturity around three years old. The coupling takes place in winter, then the two parents separate. Gestation lasts 100 surroundings days, then the mother gives life to 2 to 5 smalls, who will remain with her approximately one year.
Its splendid fur and the destruction of its habitat threatens its survival very seriously, and it would remain less than 2500 individuals in a wild state.

The park of "les Félins d’Auneau", where this shot was taken, is part of european and international programs for the safeguard of cat-like threatened.

Beautiful portrait Sebastien, the eyes are amazing. It is a pity that the top of the head was obscured but it is not too discracting. Very well done.

WOW Sebastien, this new camera brings you up close and personal. It's a beautifull mugshot. The details very sharp. Great shot. Pity about that softness on the head though.

Beauty animal Sebastien and a beauty of portrait.
Great POV with the capture of penetrating glance of that one that only of felines. Excellent composition and presentation... I imagine that the reflection must to a glass that interposed with the animal.
Great job... thanks for posting.

Excellent image, Sebastien. Very sharp and incredible detail. Good work!!

Excellente focale, rien à dire sur la couleur ou contraste, mais je rejoins les propos de Luc, d'ou viens le flou entre les yeux ( une feuille?), very great shot Sébastien

Fantastic portrait.

Good shot! You've captured this Snow Leopard very nicely, sharpness is spot on and DOF is as good as was possible in the circumstances. The only thing I find slightly distracting is the out of focus leaf that covers the top of his head - but it's only minor. Anyway, well captured :-D

P.S. I've posted you a Workshop which I hope you'll like!

Beautiful portrait Sebastien.
Great eyes. Very good sharpness, compostion and colours.
Very well done.

A great shot, but the top is blur otherwise this would have been perfect.
Well done.

Excellent mugshot. Beautiful detail The blur at the top is a bit of a distraction otherwise perfect.
Well done

Pity that something blurred his cute face! Otherwise it could be perfect portrait. Anyway - very good picture.

Beau félin, ce léopard des neiges, Sébastien.
Quel regard magnifique! Hormis cette perturbation dans le haut de l'image, c'est un bon travail bien documenté.

The guys have mentioned the softness on the head, so I wont go there. The detail on the eyes however is stunning. Very well done.

Thanks for posting

Despite the softness at the top of the photo, this shot of this marvelous wild animal is very fine!

Hi Sebastien
This cat is on my wishlist - there are none in SA, ans I know I will never go to Nepal to see one, so it ia always nice to see a nice shot of them like this one here. Love the eyes and compo.

For my taste this is the most beautiful feline posted in Tn, and I like others very very much, but this and the other shot of this specie Dan posted are the most elegant and beautiful. Nice shot Sebastien, I was really surprised with your "white" framing :DDD

I sure love the relaxed gaze of this cat! I'm not sure what that blurry thing is by its head, but even with that, this is a fine image, well composed, and colors and sharpness are very effective.

Great capture Sebastien. Perfect dof and very nice colours - pity with the leaf or what it is in the foreground over the right ear but it is a minor thing.
