Tiger Grouper

|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a Tiger Grouper from Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands. I took this photo in 1996, when I did my 19th dive. It was the first time I was using a close up outfit addapted to my Nikonos V. This outfit comes with a metalic frame to use attached ahead to the lens, just to know the focus distance and the frame limits on subject. I donīt know how, but Iīve got close to this quiet tiger grouper and put itīs head inside the frame! This thin shadow is the frameīs shadow, because I was using the flash too much oppened on a arm-support in a wrong position over the metalic frame. Of course that as soon as I took the picture, the grouper gone and I didnīt had a chance for a second photo. Well, I canīt keeped my breath away for any extra time, anyway! I'm lucky the fish didnīt hitted my gear...or didnīt ate it!
Missing the Turks & Caicos... Greetings! |

Hi Jose!
Good close-up of this grouper. Mouth and eye are very sharp. Flash exposure is hard but well exposed. Tight cropping amplify the drammatic effect of the directionnal lighting.
Good shot and TFS.
