Juvenile Emperor Angelfish

For a description of the species, please refer to my previous picture of an adult Emperor Angelfish (Imperator)

The thing to know is that juvenile imperator is about 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm) long. The black dot on its tail simulates an eye while the real eyes are hidden by a black bar. Also note that the end of the tail is transparent to keep that end shape almost round.

If a predator attacks, it will believe that the juvenile imperator will swim from left to right while it will really swim from right to left. This dot will disappear in the adult state and fish will have yellow and blue strips. (See my Imperator picture and description)

On dirait un poisson de la période psychédélique des années soixante. Directement du film Yellow Submarine ! :-) Superbe cliché, net et clair. Bravo encore !

Finger print! Beautiful fish, Alain! I suppose you crop it a little bit, because of its sharpness is not at the best like other photos from your gallery, but anyway its an amazing capture!
all the best!

Grâce à vous on peut découvrir le monde sous-marin si varié. Et ce cliché de qualité met bien en valeur cet extraordinaire poisson. Compliments Alain et merci pour le partage.

Hi Alain,
Very exotic looking blue colors..almost neon-like.
The border treatment really emphasizes, and adds some great impact to those colors..
Striking capture!

Hi Alain
I wonder what the psychologist’s make of us when we 'analyse' and comment on these weird and wonderfully patterned fishes you regularly frequent in your portfolio. They must be having a field day when visiting your portfolio (chuckle).
What a wonderful world to be exposed to. You diving photographers are surely blessed to see all these amazing creatures under the ocean. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Great capture of this little fish that is almost small enough to make this underwater macro photography. Your composition is just great, the BG isolates the fish, and the exposure/lighting was well controlled. Excellent details and stunning colours gives this shot additional impact.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hello Alain, Very nice colors of this fish. The picture is a bit soft of DOF. I like your frame, it does help to focus better in the subject. Well done, Gabriel

Amazing creatures of the deep Alain, nature plays wonderful tricks. I think the image lack contrast though, maybe a slight raise in levels would do the trick. Well done , TFS.

Hi Alain,
Beautiful fish very well captured with perfect exposure, good lighting, great colours and sharp details.
Very well done and thanks for sharing!

I can not stare at it for long... it reminds me of the jungle book. "Look into my eyes..." :)

Lovely colors the frame compliments it very nicely. Well done.

Great shot! You've captured this Angelfish beautifully, and it's expertly isolated just the right amount from the background. The only minor nit I have is there's a small quantity of chromatic aberration in this version. If you have the full frame to hand, it might be worth experimenting with the Filter/Distort/LensCorrection command in Photoshop - perhaps play with the Chromatic Aberration settings whilst zoomed in to the higest contrast edges and see whether you can make a wonderful shot even better! Very nicely done :D

Hello Alain,
I looked back in your portfolio as your underwater images caught my eye as I used to dive myself. I am envious as I has always wanted to dive the Red Sea. Your image of this stunning species is superb Alain, thank you.
