THE SWEETGRASS HILLS
Last summer we canoed the Milk River in Southern Alberta. It was the only river not in major flood, as the river comes into Alberta from Montana, then flows back to Montana and into the Mississippi.

The Sweetgrass Hills got it's name from the species of grass called Sweetgrass. The native would pick Sweetgrass and dry it to smoke. It has a very sweet scent. Sweetgrass is a native grass species to Montana and Alberta.

Janice,

It is a pretty cool part of the country that you live in. I've driven by the milk river a few times myself, but I've never really taken the time to look around the area. Thanks for posting some beautiful shots of this area.

Bonjour Janice
Belle prise de vue avec ce superbe paysage avec ces magnifiques montagnes et cette belle rivière. Félicitations pour l'expositions et les belles couleurs.
Merci et au revoir...JP

Beautifully composed landscape. Nice subtle colors and a vrey dramatic sky. I have to protest that you live it a very scenic and beautiful area, and I don't.:( Also the Oilers got Chris Pronger because the St. Louis Blues stink and cut payroll..So go Oilers!

Hi Janice,
Seems like many of your pictures are shot from a low POV on water level... And it works very well!
Interesting landscape with this slowly moving river... I like the mountain range in the background, and also the nice story in your notes!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Oh YES Janet, summer, canoeing! How I missed this shot? I really like the colour bands in this landscape. It's like a painting. The light and dark of the clouds reflected on the land... I like it , period. < And miss it too! >

Btw. I recall crossing the border by Sweetgrass Montana, going south ...
for a long summer, eh!
