Welcome to TN! Great opening shot shot you have here, excellent detail, natural colours and good DOF. Composition is perhaps a little central but a lovely shot. A note telling us about the animal, how you took the shot, what post-processing you did etc. would be nice.

First, a warm welcome to TN. : )
I can't believe you took this incredible shot on the side of the railroad tracks.
Wow! Newark has more wildlife than I thought. : P
That is an excellent shot of the burrowing owl. The details are tack sharp, the exposure is perfect.
Perfect POV for a portrait, and a skillfully managed DOF to get the nice blurred BG.
Congratulations on this superb first post, and looking forward to seeing much more of your work.
Thanks for sharing.

Hola Adam.- Que bella es esta foto, grandes detalles, muy nitida. Luis52
Hello Adam, and welcome to TrekNature. ManYee mentioned you to me and I have been watching for your first post. It is a good one. I am pretty much a landscape photographer but I think if I had just happened upon your owl I would have shot him too...however probably not as successfully. ManYee said you use a Canon. I just bought the 30D. I'm hoping I can ask you a few questions???? : )
Come to think of it, I lived in the Bay Area most of my life and I never once saw an owl in the wild, much less one close enough to photograph...no fair!
Thanks for sharing

Welcome to TN! A superb first post. The portrait on this Burrowing Owl looks great. A spot on exposure has rendered beautiful color and tack sharp detail. Good contol on the DOF and a nice OOF backround.

Excellent full portrait of this nice owl, has very good details, colours and composition. Right exposure time.
In Argentina, the burrowing owl is very common and in last years is usual see them in sub urban zones.
