[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While in Kuala Lumpur we visited the Bird Park, which houses around 160 species and has some large walk-through aviaries. The day we were there it was dark and gloomy and rained. Still we got to see quite a few hornbill species and some other colourful birds that wed missed in the wilds of Thailand.

This is a Pink-necked Pigeon (Treron vernans), a fairly common species found through southern Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia. It can be found in a range of lowland forests including mangroves.

Due to the poor light, I had to use flash but it still came out washed-out. Thus before posting I did a bit of work in Photoshop to improve the hue, saturation, contrast and brightness. I also used the blur tool to reduce the noisy background. Ive posted the original in the workshop so you can see what I started with. Im happy with the result, but would be interested in your opinions.

Hi Chris,
What incredible pastel colors on this unusual pigeon.
I looked at your WS photo and I see what you mean by the noise. But you did a good job of "saving" it. Do you ever use NeatImage to get rid of the noise?

Hi Chris,
Wow, beautiful bird. The only pigeons I ever see here are plain grey and the town pigeons are quite often in a poor state. It's a great shot, perfect DOF again, excellent detail and nice light. Good exposure/flash levels too. I looked at the workshop and must say that your PP work is excellent. Great work!

Thank you so much for posting this amazing picture; Praise God for His Goodness and His Wonderful Works to the Children of Men.
