Wicklow is widely known as the “Garden of Ireland” with hidden lakes and luscious waterfalls. One of the most beautiful locations and one of my personal favorites is Glendalough. Glendalough is a glacially sculpted green valley of great beauty and near this location sections of the film Braveheart were filmed.

The most famous of all the landmarks in the area, however, is the "Round Tower" which stands 110 feet above the ground. Here I included it in my compostion from the nearby stream rather than the graveyard or early Christian settlement area.

Hi Stephen!

As usual, another splendid landscape. This image is timeless, could have been taken yesterday or 100 years ago. Perfect use of your optic. Perfect exposure, excellent sharpness from FG to BG. Excellent POV. Warm colors. The sky goes from dark on right to bright on left, is it due to the use of Polariser on your WA lens or was the sky like that?

Absolutely fantastic, and TFS.

Wow, Stephen, well done. Great composition. I think the low afternoon light helps a lot, too.

Your recent shots are just amazing. They seem to be beautiful pastoral scenes, this one included. But having been to Ireland, I shouldn't be surprised by your focus on pastoral landscapes -- it's what you have around you. But your frequent use of them has paid off, because clearly you understand them and shoot them very well.

Cheers,
Mike

This is another lovely shot, Stephen. I'd like to know what you did in pp to get that subtle lighting effect and dull sky. It is hard to know how what you see on your own computer compares with others' monitors. On my monitor there is a halo visible around the trees against the sky. Does sharpening cause that?

I think this is a perfect landscape composition with strong fore mid and background elements, good DOF and interesting light.

Hi Stephan,
a great picture!

Fantastic landscape really well presented, with wonderful greens well handled directly into sun, but some of your editting is showing. I'm guessing you have used the 2 layers (one light, one dark) and layer masks.... the lighter area of sky is shwing around the trees on the right - I think you need to feather the effect a touch more...

However, it is the Ireland I remember, and well composed with good DOF and POV and with great tranquility...

Excellent landscape Stephen! It's a timeless shot. This truly is a great picture. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Ps- It does look like there is a halo around the trees? Due to oversharpenening?

What a gorgeous scenery, Stephen.
So much going on in the foreground, mid-ground, and background.
All the details invite the eyes to roam all over, and back again.
The light is beautiful.
I wish I were there. TFS. : )

Hello Stephen,
Lovely shot! I love places like that and you definitely know how to capture their beauty.
The picture has great space, lovely colours and perfect quality. There's a great peaceful mood here too.
I like it a lot!
VERY WELL DONE!

Well despite the hallo, which you really have to look for, its a timeless shot.
Composition is up to your usual high standard and the greens are just as Ireland is portrayed. Well done.

Hi Stephen

You have some beautiful scenery and you have the perfect ability to show us 'your side of the world' through dynamic photography. Thank you! :-)

Hi Stephen
Again the picture of the place where I have been. I remember I was really impressed by Glendalough monastery and its surroundings, even though I was there for only half an hour.
Your picture is very good composed, as well as exposed. I like this nice, warm colours of the landscape.
I hope to see this place again, maybe even this year as I'm planning to visit Ireland soon.
Thanks for sharing
Ania
