Welcome to TN. A good first posting you have submitted. The pic has great Composition, POV, DOF, BG and sharpness of the subject. I do believe that the bird has been wrongly identified though and it is in fact a Wattled Plover. I am also looking to get into contact with people that have been to Rietvlei Nature Reserve and want to know what photographic opportunities the bird hides present there. Hi Anton, it's not a Crowned Lapwing!!!
It's a Wattled Lapwing (or Wattled Plover), latin name Vanellus Senegallus.
The pic is perfect! Compo and Bg are great.
