Kilclooney Dolmen, Co. Donegal

This is one of Ireland's most spectacular dolmens in Co Donegal. Since it is not well-known, a visit to the Kilclooney dolmen is very peaceful and without the annoyance of the tour bus crowds that sometimes detract from visits to the more famous megalithic sites around the Ireland like the Burren. I took many shots of this magnificent Dolmen from various angles with different lens and each looks quite different. See Workshop.

You will also see a short distance west of this tomb is another similar construction but on a very much smaller scale. It is now partly collapsed. A modern field wall separates the two, which were evidently mounded over by the same east-facing cairn, traces of which remain.

Software: Adobe Photoshop CS2 Windows
Exposure Time: 1/25 sec
F-Stop: f/8.0
ISO Speed Ratings: 100
Focal Length: 10/1 mm

another beautiful picture of you from Ireland. I recognised it as a picture of you in the gallery. Like you're style!

In this picture I like the colour of the sky, but the other picture ( the workshop version) is more real if you know what I mean. I think I like the other a little bit better, but they are both very nice picture`s. Again: well done!!

Greeting Kristies

Hello stephen, Another excllent photo from here. Great details colors are awsome, Im am looking to buy that canon lems 10-22, How do you like it? It take wonderful Photo, Great Job, TFs Kyle

Cool landscape, the sky really sets the mood of mystery. POV and composition is also very good.
Well done Stephen.

Hi Stephen, I love your landscape shots and this is a great one. The sense of perspective is fantastic, the light and the detail. Beautiful :)

Very nice comp. and lovely saturated colors Steve..Seems a perfect use of the CP. I'll have to remember to try and hide the sun behind a large object such as this and try it :)
The B&W of the Dolmen was just as much impressive with more drama. This different perspective in color, is every bit as impressive...
Very well done.

Hi Steohen,
Very dynamic photograph. The POV and light on the grass creates movement in an inmobile setting. Super!

Are you sure you didn't direct The Lord of the Rings? Because this is absolutely surreal! You rarely get to see such beauty. This picture is definately going to my favourites...without any criticism...there simply is no point to say what i like better...i love it all.
10 :D from me.

Stephen bonjour, super paysage avec ce dolmen bien mis en valeur et un ciel plein de splendides reflets et couleurs. Mes félicitations, Didier.

WOW, this is an incredible image. I like the blue/orange gradient combo with the
dolmen splitting them. The highlights in the grass are amazing. Wonderful post!
Very pleasing to the eye.

A stunning image, especially because of the saturated colours. Also there's a mystical glow around the edges of the rock. Is that natural or something from PP?
I would normally say you would want the rock further to the right 1/3rd of the photo but I guess you'd be losing some of the lovely orange from the right. Unless there is more photo to the left that you cropped out?
Great result, anyway.

Hi Stephen, without doubt a beautiful shot, lots of drama and colour. I can't help feeling that this is a TE shot though seeing as it's a man made structure.

Well done!

Hi Stephen, excelent shot. Good strong coloures and very cleare and good quality. Good noticea about it. TFS

Absolutely remarkable image of this wonderful feature of your country, Stephen.
I love the way you have shot the dolmen from a low perspective and made it stand out so impressively against the most drmatic evening sky. The sky itself is so magnificent it needs separate treatment as a theme.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful image.

Hi Stephen,
This is so beautiful, a great wallhanger.
The colours are lovely, it's amazing with different tones on the sides of the stones. Graet composition and POV.
Excellent work, my friend

Hi Steve,
Excellent shot and striking colours. Beautiful composition, the POV is great for two reasons, firstly for masking the bright light and giving the dolmen that glow, and secondly for the low angle. I really like the shots you've taken of this dolmen, excellent work.

Hello Stephen,
this is a wonderful landscape. I love it.
Excellent dramatic picture. Wonderful colours, lighting and fantastic POV. Congrats my friend. I wish It was mine. ;-)

Wow, Stephen! The dolmen is a great subject. The flower-filled field and the wonderful sky are amazing elements, too. The 10mm really gives them all a chance to contribute. But the colors are stupendous! At first it seems like an odd angle on the dolmen, but the way it breaks up the colors of the sky, blue versus orange, makes it really compelling and seems to impart magical powers. So I think that's really perfect placement.

Another peach of a capture Stephen,
Good detail, stunning colours and sharpness. exposure and lighting are good. Good POV and composition.

Thanks for posting, have a great week.

Hi Stephen,

Hi Stephen, awesome composition. The dolmen certainly stands here so impressively, and I especially like how the sky coloiurs on either side are completely different. Well captured, thank you

Magnificent image...
Amazing colour and light in the sky..
a masterpiece..

Hi Stephen,
I think I agree with Paul that this is more TE shot. Anyway, the picture is really beautiful.

Hi Stephen
Wow...this is an awesome shot. Colours, composition and exposure are excellent. This photo should be used in a poster to travel in Ireland. Just wonderful! Janice

Cześć. Piękna fotka, super kompozycja i świetne kolory. bardzo dobrze zrobione.

This is a stunning shot, very well controlled and I like the POV.

The rock on the bottom left is a little distracting, I will post a workshop removing it and see if you agree

Hi Stephen,
Waow very nice.

Excellent shot! The colours and compsoition look amazing. The leading lines in the sky, and the combination of red, green and blue are the thing that are attracting me the most. Thanks for sharing.
