It concerns here the Anthocharis Cardamines. The name Cardamines refers butterfly to field cherry, the food plant of the caterpillar of the butterfly. This butterfly belongs to the family of the whites. To characterise The Orange wingtips are a beautiful spring teller with an attachment amplitude of 35-45 mm. the wing points of the front wings of the male are orange points and those of the females are black. The bases of the wings of both have sexes look like a lot on those of the whites: capricious grey green spotted. This spotting pattern provides a perfect camouflage to the butterfly during foraging. The females are not distinguished during the flight easily of the small cabbage white butterfly or goaded white. The males appear early in spring (beginning April). The butterfly has only one short generation up to in June. Till bride’s room is possible, the butterfly is in the east and south west of the Netherlands to observe. The habitat of the butterfly exists from a varied landscape surrounded with wet open parts, by trees and shrubs.

Yes this one I had captured during a bike trip around my living place. The distance between my old camera and the butterfly was 11 cm and the iso was 200. I like the shot, I hope you will like it too.

I'm not familiar with butterflies, Jaap, but this image is a little gem. So many sharp details together with tender colors. Interesting to note that the overall white color goes even on the legs and antennae! Very nice post.

Your landscape photography works hand in hand when you shoot macro. This is a work of art. Well done.

Good on jaap i love the orange tips they are so restless making them very hard to get sharp clear captures like here, there are a couple of small over exposed areas on the leading edge of the top wing but the rest is absolutly rocking in its detail, the wings are so white in places it makes it very difficult to get spot on all over. I tend to use single point light metering to try and reduce this this can lead to darker images that require lightening aftewrwards but it does give you all the details I find. This is a lot of writting about a very minor nit, good image TFS.

wow ! je ne l'avait pas vus !
vraiment un magnifique papillon, les couleur sont eclatentes, les details sont sublime... !
vraiment du beau boulot ;)

Fantastic detail,it is realy a pleasure to look at your work again. Here the whites look a bit overexposed, but with such detail, colours and composition everything is forgiven. Thanks a lot Jaap.

Excellent details and sharpness Jaap. I have seen similar other great macro shots from you before and this is no exception. Wonderfull rendition of the critter. My only nit being, the bright spots at the top of the wing. Erg goed gedaan vriend!

Proficiat man!!!

Hi Jaap
Pragtige "bottervlieg", en die oranje streep is duidelik sigbaar. Ek is mal oor sy 'wol-jas" wat hy aan het. Komposisie is ook baie goed. En there I did all in my language!

Great shot!
Beautiful species, specially with open wings.
5* photo!

Hi Jaap,
excellent colours and stunningly clear details on this "early" last year's contribution of Anthocharis cardamines at rest, now perfectly fitting into the season again. Very well visible bright yellow and black scales around the veins, appearing greenish from the distance.
Thank you, and best regards,

Just perfect close-up! Nothing to add

Hallo Jaap
Although this is one of your much older postings I would like to leave my smiley at it today. This is a bright and eye-catching close-up with lots of colourful features. The focus is sharp and the detail of the butterfly is marvellous. I like the fluffy appearance and the big green eye. The composition is good. The patterns and wings are well displayed and the clarity is great. A real neat shot and well presented. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
