[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this photo of a Racket-tailed Roller through the bars at the San Antonio Zoo.

Rollers are large birds, usually with brightly colored wings and bodies. Most species have bright blue or purple colors in the wings that show as they fly. Seeing one in flight is a special sight.

The Racket-tailed Roller is named for its long tail feathers. They are found in the open lands of south eastern Africa.

The name roller is derived from their elaborate courtship displays. Rollers perch high on trees or other structures and fly out after insects like large flycatchers. The twelve species are found throughout the open lands of Africa, southern Europe, Asia and Australia.

Hi Chris, excelent details and colours. Good shot of this roller! Beautiful light in the eyes. In the wild, in Romania is very difficult to be close on with this bird! Congratulation, Dan.

Hello Chris

I never saw these colors. amazing. thanks for information. I like composition and details. it is sharp with nice POV.
well done

Hi Chris

Excellent work. Nice POV, good depth of colour. Well done :-)

Nice work, Chris, though I have a feeling the eye of the bird has lost on sharpness due to excessive convergence of dots of light on it, particularly the pupil.

Hi Chris.

Excellent Composition, with great colors and details.
