Here is my first post of a cicada. These are really interesting species to me. Especially cause of La Fontaine :-) A famous French poet, Jean de La Fontaine, wrote a fable of its life... Here it is! (i know everyone knows it already!)

The cicada and the ant*

A cicada, having sung all summer long

Found herself empty handed when the cold wind came along.

She* cried her hunger to the ant, her neighbour,

and begged her for a few seeds to go through winter.

"I will repay you", she said, "before August comes, principal and interests".

Ants are selfish, it's the smallest of their many shortcomings.

"What did you do when the weather was good ?", the ant asked the borrower.

"For everyone to enjoy, I was singing. I hope you were not bothered."

"So you sang !", the ant replied. "I am so glad to hear that. Well then, now dance !"

* Poem written in French by Jean de La Fontaine (1621 - 1695)

i know this fable from my childhood. Maybe the first one i've ever heard. Surely one of my favourites! You know what! i like that lazy singer since my childhood and i'm angry with the pitiless ant :-)

For identification, there are three possibilities.

Okanagana rimosa
Okanagana bella
Okanagana occidentalis

i'm not sure which one, but one of them for sure!

Thanks for visiting :-)

Hi Ersin!
You're right! I hate peopele who acts like stupid ant. Life is too short for such behaviour :-) Great cicada picture, I love nights when they're singing. Unfortunatelly, not in Poland.

Hi Ersin !
Yes, I remember this poem of la Fontaine, in french it is called "la Cigale et la Fourmi" and we had to learn it at school, when I was a child. I like to hear these insects during the summer evenings, but I didn't know what they looked like exactly. Now I know ! :-) Sharpness, details, colors, composition, POV, everything is perfect here. A woderful shot !

Hi Ersin,
Excellent shot, I've never seen a cicada up close before. Great detail and exposure, good colours. A strong contrast too which works well here. Good note too, I've never heard that before. Great post.

Hi Ersin,
Well, a very good first post of this kind of insect. I like the composition well managed, flash use and details, colours are great. A more perpendicular view may help with thw OOF parts, but surely you know that, but the cicada want colaborate? :)
Great job
