We are slowly moving up the hill. We started near the Beaver Ponds Loop Trail and then saw Liberty Cap. Now we stopped at Pallete Spring. Water flows from a flat area and then down a steep ridge, creating a colorful hillside palette of brown, green, and orange (the colors are due to the presence of different heat-tolerant bacteria). This effect is much the same as an artist would achieve by allowing wet paint to run down a vertical surface. I am showing you a kind of overview today, and later on I will post a view close-ups, so you can see some of the beautiful details nature has created.

Not so long ago there was a footpath leading to the top. But nature has taken over. Travertine has ran over the path. For me this is a true sign that nature is still running this park and not humans.

Hi Niek,

Beautiful view and well done on all counts.

Mike

Hello Niek,
Everything looks great. I like the characteristic mineralization from the hot springs, that produces these interesting smooth contours, textures, and colors. The deep blue BG really sets off the clouds of steam rising up as well..
Very well done.

Wow very impressive Neik! Great detail on the different hues and tones of colour, and the lighting really brings out the different features of the spring; really making it all come alive.
The puffs of steam you also managed to capture tells us that this is indeed a hotspring. Nicely done!

Another awesome shot, Niek. : )
You could not show this better.
POV, colors, exposure, sharpness, composition... all fantastic!
And that deep blue sky. : )
Thanks for taking us along on your trip. That is so much fun. : )

Very nice shot Niek with perfect exposure and good colour saturation. I think it would be hard to build a strong composition here but it holds together. Well done.

Fantastic shot Niek,
The details are nice, clear and sharp.
Good colours, lighting and exposure. POV is good.
Well composed and nicely framed.
Thanks for posting, have a great end to the week

WOW
Really cool formations Niek.
Mother Nature really knows how to paint her own picture.
Excellent composition, colours, detail and lighting.
Looking forward to more photos from this area.
Janice

Wow! there's another WOW. Very nicely exposed and wonderful point of view. I like the way the darker horizontal lines anchor the bottom of the composition and the angled lines that direct the eye to the top where there is just enought cloud/steam movement to add drama to the scene.

Thanks for sharing another winner.

Hi Niek,
Looks like something out of this world!
This isa very well exposed image, where you capture all the colours tones close to white very well...
Superb details, good point of view and nice natural colours!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Niek,
This one of the most impressive shot of this travertine cascade. Excellent pov, color and light angle. The blue sky with clouds or water vapour gives a more fantastic aspect to the shot.

Nicely done, Niek, especially the exposure which was very tricky here. Good composition and lighting, too. You make me want to return.

Hi Niek,
Perfecte belichting, ook op de witte delen.
Hele mooie compositie en diep blauwe lucht die alles goed to zijn recht laat komen.
Prachtige foto, bedankt voor het delen.

Hi Niek,
This is spectacular. The place looks amazing and you capture excellent.
Colors are very interesting and the whites contrast well with the browns and especially dark blue skies.

Hi Niek!
I am not he first person for whom this photo reminds Pakukkale from Turkey as I see :) But it really does! Great POV and lovely colours and sharpness. Thank you for interesting note too.
