Common Tiger Longwing (Hecale's Longwing)
Heliconius hecale

Mexico to N. South America

Passiflora spp.

Longwing butterflies have very elongated wings and are slow fliers. Since the larvae feed on passionflower vines, which are poisonous, the adults are also unpalatable and advertise this with warning colors. Warning colors include combinations of red, orange, yellow, and white with black or brown. Most unpalatable butterflies make themselves obvious to would-be predators by flying slow and landing fequently in the open.

Hi Manyee

Nice work here. Very good exposure. Nicely composed with clear detail. Very good camera work. :-)

Hi Manyee,
it's a wonderful moment. These butterflies are so beautiful, I like your shot, thanks.
I also had a shot here of those two, he was flying to his love, now they are a couple and next year we can visit their children ;-) What a love story - but putting our both shots together - we only have to search for a shot of their caterpillars ;-) Thanks and bye

Great shot!

Just the one butterfly would have been wonderful. The colours, details and POV are all spot on. Two makes it extra special.

Well captured
