I have no idea what kind of spider this is. Help will be appreciated.

I took this photo in a garden in Bloemfontein, South Africa

Hi Willem

this looks like a young female of Nephila sp. to me ..

there are a couple of good books on South African arachnids (including the one by Jonathan Fleming), I have some but not here, so can't check

will update my note if I find more

HI,

The pose is great as is the composition but unfortunately the focus is not good on the insect or maybe it happend because of its movement. Thanks,

-Varahram

Willem, dit is 'n great shot!!

I love your composition, great lines in this shot. DOF is good with enough detail.

Sal later 'n paar van my eie post.

Riaan

It is a female Golden Orb webspider - totally harmless.

Hi Willem,
I like your shot but, horror... I hate spiders !
I'll never take this kind of shot with macro mode... too close of the spider !
Anyway, it's an excellent POV with good DOF and colors.
Regards.
Fred

Hi Willem always nice to see a fellow SA here on TN. Your ID on the critter is spot on.

The composition is very good. Exposure and colors also. The sharpness could improve a little but I have to guess and say that it is coupled to the limited DOF @ F4.2 rather than sharpness. Well done.

Hallo Willem,
very well seen and captured. It is nice to see the spider attached to the thin fibres.
Extremely good composition.
Best wishes, Peter
