Green Emerald Damselfy, Lestes viridis the male the Green Emerald Damselfy is metallically green, the female bronze colors. Both have a light brown wing mark, which differentiates them also from the other kinds of rdamselfies. With 45 mm body length is the Green Emerald Damselfy the largest damselfy. It occurs at larger dikes, at excavator lakes in addition, at all kinds of artificial waters, however such prefers with erlen and pasture bushes. The flying time begins at the beginning of of July and ends in October. One sees most pairs starting from in the middle of Septembers, if her her eggs into the crust of over the water rising up shrubs waterjumps and pastures. The eggs overwinter under the crust and can stand temperatures to under -30 C here. In April the pro larvae slip, let themselves be fallen, in the water and skins itself to correct larvae out of the eggs. In July the finished spirit levels slip.

This was not an easy capture because every time I came with the caera, he was gone. So I had later another chance, and this was the result. I hope you like it. The distance was 15 cm.

Damsel fly with annodised aluminium body, well thats what it looks like Jaap.
Excellent Macro shot with great colours and detail.
Good note also.
Well done!

Nice one, Jaap, good overall sharpness and DOF, great colours. And in only 4 months from now they'll start coming back!!

What a nice and detailed macro.
At first sight I thought it was a Calopteryx Splendens the same I posted HERE, it also has the pseudo-pterostigma :D in the wing, as you explain in your note.
But if you look carefully the differences are obvius in the colours and patterns.
I would have cropped a bit tighter at the bottom to take advantage of the fantastic details of the textures in the body. Good work.

Proficiat Jaap.
