Can anyone identify this thing for me?

Colours are true, and the critter was about 30-35mm in length

I have managed to find a couple of references to sand wasps and to wood wasps, neither of which look quite right so I have turned to the extremely knowledgable community on here to try to identify it.

Hi Norman

yep, it's an ichneumonid wasp, maybe Catadelphus sp or Calojoppa sp.


Nice shot really colorfull and details.
