One of the most common fungi to be found in the woods is Trametes versicolor, the turkey tail fungus. The common name come from the banding pattern on the fruiting bodies that resembles (in miniature, of course) the tail of a strutting turkey. The colors of the bands can be quite variable, depending on the genetics of the organism and its environment. Most of the bands are dark to light brown in color, alternating with light colored bands of white to tan, with still more bands of blue, orange, maroon, and other. The can be strikingly beautiful, and are among the most easily found fungi. The species has a widespread distribution, having been found in nearly every country. You probably have this fungus where you live! Trametes versicolor can be a very prolific fruiter...

I found this info HERE where there is a nice read and more information about this and other fungi.

Hope you like!

That's a really beautiful fungus! We've got a similar one here but not as brilliant as this.
Would be interesting to know where you found it and what size it was. Anyway it's a brilliant shot displaying the colours and the pattern against the dark background!
Thanks, Ulla

You've captured a beautiful looking fungi Felipe.
It almost looks like the rings from a tree, except more colourful.
The dark background really makes your fungi stand out.

Wow, I think I could make some "paydirt" on a webpage background design with this jewel. If you would permit me, I would be glad to demonstrate and then promptly put the background graphic into your care.

So beautiful! Nothing designs better than nature.

Thank you Felipe!

Dave
