[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today I read in the newspaper that the amount of ice on the North pole even shrinks in wintertime. This will have major concequences for the polar ecosystem and the flora and fauna, like these walrusses. It's sad to say, but their future is not hopefull. With temperatures round freezing level I often saw walrusses trying to get rid of body heat. They often rest on iceflows. This walrus got company from an old friend... What were they discussing?

About the image; this is a scan from a colorslide. The Fuji films always created blue colours especially in low light conditions. I tried to repair this in PS by using color balance.

Brrrrrrr..! ;o)

très belle image, très belle photo !
quelle chance de pouvoir photographier de tels animaux hors d'un zoo !
Bravo pour cette "conversation" et merci du partage.

Hello Jacob,
A splendid image!
In particular I appreciate how you capture the interaction between the two... probably an exchange of opinion on the present weather situation!
Well composed presentation!
Pablo -

So impressive these animals. It is very sad to know about there uncertain future.
Excellent compostion, very good catch

wow !!! this is really amazing and crystal clear. Thank you for this refreshing pic, Ori

Beautiful pic...nice compo!
Sharp and so on...
Somehow the snow and the ice is a bit blue. I read your note...though there is a bit of a cast.

A great composition, Jacob. You caught a great moment between these two giants of the arctic sea. The light in your shot was difficult, what with the scan and the ice, but you managed quite well. The details are sharp and the POV is fantastic. Sadly I agree with your notes about their future. : (

Hi Jacob

Wow, whata shot. Simply brilliant work. Good quality image. TFS.

Hoi Jaco,

bonjour Jacob,
j'aime beaucoup votre photo. Ca doit être impressionnant de trouver des animeaux comme ca en pleine nature. Il ne faut pas avoir peur de s'en approcher!
La couleur bleu de l'eau donne un jolie teint à la photo.
Respect, Arnaud.

hello Jacob, I like much your photograph. It must be impressive to find the animals ones like Ca in full nature. One should not be afraid to approach some! The color blue of water gives pretty tints with the photograph. Respect, Arnaud.

Wonderful composition here. Great POV. Lovely to see but at the same time with a serious note. Thank you for sharing this with us

Hi Jacob,
Stunning shot. Technically very good. I think the slight blue cast works well with the image and enhances the cold mood. Very interesting notes. What did you shoot this from, boat, kayak?

a super composition and really good effort and tfs

Hi Jacob!
Very nice composition and a perfect (funny!) title of this picture! I really like it. :)
According to the animals I have to say that you were lucky! I was on Spitsbergen about 1 month and I did not see any walrus...
Thanks for showing this nice photo!

Hello Jacob,
Excellent colours (actually I like the blues very much) and composition. You captured a nice intimate moment of contact between the two animals.
Best greetings,
