QUAKING ASPEN
Populus tremuloides

Also known as a Trembling aspen, golden aspen, mountain aspen.

The Quaking aspen is know for their white bark and beautiful fall colour. This particular aspen grows up to 30 metres high and the lateral roots can extend 30 metres. In the wind the leaves sparkle in the sun. I think this is when the Quaking aspen got it's name.

Native to Alberta, they grow in most locations and provide food and habitat for many different birds, bear, deer, beaver, mice, chipmunks, moose. Clusters of Aspen also help against soil erosion on hillsides and allow more ground water recharge compared to conifer forests.

it never fails...the light green against the deep blues..
nature all over again
i love and usually take this type of shot..or at least stand for a while considering and get a sore neck
the tall trees help to emphasise the depth of the forest cover
thanks

Muy bonita composición Janice... de veras.
La belleza de los árboles y su imponente altura, contrastados con el maravilloso azul del cielo con gran POV colorido y nitidez.
Excelente encuadre y recorte.

I have always loved looking at Aspen photos, as I have never seen any growing here. They look so good here Janice, reaching up to the blue sky like this. Excellent POV, and the colours are great. TFS
Janice

Very specialy effect color. The frame is not suitable yet but I like this shot.
Thanks.

Hi Janice,
Your point of view gives interesting lines!
Exposure is well handeled, with good contrast but no washed outs...
Lovely play of light, beautiful colours palette!

Hi Janice,
A photo I always want to take, but never found the perfect spot. You did, and the result is spectacular. I love the contrast between the blue sky and the fall colored leafs. Great job on the lighting and the sharpness. It really makes me feel small.
TFS,
Niek

Nicely done, Janice. I've done this composition myself, but I like the color in the leaves and the angle of light you've captured -- with the trunks directly in front and behind in the half-light to show their texture. It sure is the right time of year fr this one.

Hello Janice,
With a delay but sure.
I like the POV, show us very well the tall trees and our little size comparing with us. Nice contrusting and bright colors.
Greetings
Hernan

J.,
jeanpaul of Canada has posted a twin of your woodpecker
so much so that I had a second look at both. Amazing
coincidence.
This canopy is unusually pretty.
Sharp and so very clear.
Loved your notes.
Best regards,
M.

Bonjour Janice,

Hi Janice, Nice view! If you were laying down I hope you didn't get too dirty. Nice light and good choice of view. Very well done.

When oh when will we see these GREEN sights again? WE just got dumped on... a heavy load of wet snow, about a foot I think!
I made it home just before dark... slip sliding mostly! That, after leaving midday in lovely weather!

Classic thru the tree tops shot. Amazing how some < of the darker > lines are continuing from one tree to another.

Tfs, J.
