Ha ha ha, his face is comical to me, I'm not sure why. He does look a little startled. Very nice work Jaap, the face is very interesting especially with that far away look in his eyes. Maybe it is a bit underexposed, but still very good.

What a beauty.. he looks so sad. I love Blijdorp too, can spend hours just walking around.

She is so pretty... Just like a toy. I would like to cuddle her :-) But... maybe she has her own view on tenderness ;-)

He looks like he's worried about something Jaap. Nevertheless, still a very nice image and well done
If he/she's out of work, a job of hypnotizer would suit him/her vey well. The eyes make it here, Jaap. 5 minutes and you're ready for a good night! You've catched the eyesight perfectly and your tight framing works very well. Feathers look a bit soft, but I guess it's their natural texture. Very good owl portrait you did here.

Very good portrait, but we can see the cage behind. I could be a bit more sharp.

Great portrait, great eyes, great bird. But as Paul said, there is something comical with this owl. I don't know what, too :-) Anyway - great picture of beautiful bird.

Seems strange, but he seems rather human - reminds me of someone with a questioning look on his face. Good shot, well done.
Jaap, Very good close-up portrait of this Great Grey! Good detail, comp. & POV. And without telephoto lens! How close where you? We can't always pick a complimentary BG..Overall a great post!! TFS

This owl is one of my favourite owls, I love the face and the 19th centuary moustace and wiskers. He looks like an old gentleman, & you portrayed him here very well, TFS, I love this picture.

I think Gert said it nicely: You posting a bird? It's a nice shot Jaap. The eyes are captured so nicely. Interesting subject that have the limelight here on TN the last week or so. Well done.

Jaap, I have the feeling the owl is extremely sad.
Great picture to show us this beautiful animal. Great POV and composition, despite the sadness the bird seems to be going through...
