This is one of my favorites from my Africa / Tanzania / Tarangire, jurney from last year.
Captured @ 400mm handheld from a car.
On photo you can see elephants and Baobab tree.
Baobabs grow about 70 feet (20 m) tall, they can be up to 50 feet (15 m) in diameter (yes, diameter, not circumference). Baobabs may live as long as 3,000 years, during which time they experience many changes (in dry years the girth of the baobab tree actually shrinks). In comparison, African elephants, the largest land animals alive today, can be 4 yards (4 m) tall at the shoulder, weigh up to 7 tons (6,300 kg), and live for 60-70 years.

Beautiful shot, Ralf, and great to see the Baobab tree to scale with the elephants. Well composed, sharp and nicely framed. I can understand that this is one of your favourites.
TFS, regards, Ivan

This picture really sums up my impressions of Africa! The beautiful Baobab tree and the colours! Lovely sharp shot and very nicely composed with the distant silhouette.
Thanks, Ulla

Big ears. Maybe he was trying to communicate something...

Hi Ralf,
Impressive landscape with this Baobab tree as center of attention. Composition, pov, exposure are great. TFS.

There is something about this composition that is very appealing. The elephant family is nice, but it is the massive elephant with ears spread wide in front of the massive tree with limbs spread wide that is so special. Very nice

Excellente image couleurs sobres. Le Baobab et l'élephant donne la dimension de l'arbre

Hi Ralf How lucky you were to catch this shot - it's amazing to get two such magnificent 'creatures' in one shot. Well done - no wonder it is a favourite
