Laccaria amethystina

Info in english in the lower part.

Himenio: Láminas violeta, escasas, separadas, adherentes y desiguales. A veces parecen cubiertas del polvillo blanco de las esporas. Esporada blanca.

Pie: Fibroso, hueco, algo ondulado, estilizado y violeta.

Laccaria amethystina

Info from Mushroomexpert.com:

"Ecology: Mycorrhizal with hardwoods (especially partial to oak and beech); growing alone or scattered; summer; widely disributed east of the Rocky Mountains.

Cap: .5-3.5 cm; broadly convex to plane; often with a central depression; the margin even or inrolled, not lined or lined; nearly smooth or finely hairy-scaly; bright grayish purple, fading to buff; changing color markedly as it dries out (often resulting in "two-toned" specimens).

Gills: Attached to the stem, or rarely running down the length of the stem; distant or nearly so; thick; waxy; dark purple or colored like the cap.

Stem: 1-7 cm long; 1-7 mm thick; equal or slightly swollen at the base; coarsely hairy or scaly; colored like the cap; with lilac to whitish basal mycelium.

Flesh: Insubstantial; colored like the cap or paler.

Taste and Smell: Mild.

Spore Print: White.

Microscopic Features: Spores 7-10 x 7-10 µ; round; ornamented with spines 1.5-3 µ long and over 1 µ wide at their bases. Basidia 4-spored, rarely 2-spored."

Beware, it is edible but there are similar poisonus, also extracts a lot of arsenic in contaminated substrates.

Hope you like!

Hello,
This is a fine portrait of this fungus, sharp and well composed. It is difficult to show the underside of the hat but you have made a good job.
TFS, regards, Ivan

Ricardo

Hello,
I like your capture of Laccária amethýstina. Very nice light coming through the cap and it is a good illustration for size compared to the little fungi behind.
This is very common in deciduous forests in Sweden. It has a fantastic colour and is easily spotted in the woods. It's been discovered that it contains arsenik and should therefore not be eaten!
Thanks, Ulla

Great colour and I love the light showing at the edge of the cap. Lovely POV and I like the OOF funghi in the BG. Great note

Hello Felipe,
percect perspective which let the fungus appear very tall.
Great sharpness and natural, impressive colours.
Regards, FABIAN

That's sooooo wonderful - what a beautiful violet one - and the hat is shining, that's so pretty. I also love to see the other ones in the back, a real dreamshot, thanks and bye

Hi my friends!

Edible? Maybe, but I won't try :-) Lovely photo, Laccaria is big star on FG but don't forget about three supporters on BG. Great composition and quality. Very interesting subject.

I took few shots of fungi today so expect them on TN soon :-)

What a pretty mushroon Felipe. It makes me think of a jelly fish with it's curved cap. A wonderful composition, especially seeing the cream ones in teh BG> Well done,

Hi Filipe

What a splendid mushroom! It's color is absolutely magnificent and the way it stands out of its surroundings is also great. Excellent contrast with that moss aournd there, too.
The lighting is impecable, showing all the fine textures from all the elements of the fungi and i particualrily like the POV and DOF with those OOF bunch of mushrooms in the back!
All-in-all a superb composition!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Felipe,
I appreciate this composition of quality. The good DOF give a good 3D effest. The texture on cap is great. Good note too.
Bravo my friend !
