The Nilgai (Boselaphus tragocamelus) is an antelope which is one of the most commonly seen wild animals of northern India and eastern Pakistan. It appears ox-like and is also called as the Blue bull.

Female nilgai have a short yellow-brown coat. Males' coats gradually darken to a grey-blue as they reach maturity. They have white spots on the cheeks and white coloring on the edges of the lips. They also have a white throat bib and a narrow white stripe along the underside of the body that widens at the rear.Nilgai can be found in single sex or mixed sex herds of 4-20, though old bulls are sometimes solitary.

This Lonely feamle was eating the tender leaves on one late evening in Ranathambore national park. I like the spot light falling on the animal And i was quick to take this shot. I like thebeautiful posture of the female and the cool colors at the back.

Well done! A rare sight to see pictures of this antilope in the wild. Nice exposure and composition too.

Very lucky to have such a great light!

Beautiful shot. I love the warm lighting. I also like the pose of the antelope. Picture is nice and sharp, but the best thing about his image is the control of DOF. Your even have the rear of the antelope in focus as well as the filiage in front of it. The Bokeh behind the antelope is supurb. I was thinking of buying the Sigma 100-300mm F4 but have never seen one in real life. I always like to hold one befor sinking the money.
