[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I am posting this more for its subject and composition than for quality of photograph. I was just experimenting, and of course the scene I like the best is not the one with the best technique. Seems I reserve my best technique for shots with power poles, wires, vehicles, people and all sorts of stuff not for TN. Ahhhh! **sigh**

It is the size of the Canadian Rockies that amazes one and the way they rise up so abruptly. These mountains are interesting in that their height is due in part from being uplifted by a plate of younger rock that moved in beneath them. The peaks of the mountains are older than the layers below.

The smoke from the Washington fires is still a little evident in this scene See last post. The winds had shifted and so it was getting clearer but by then we had already changed course and cut across Banff on the way south to Montana in the US.

that is earthshattering sharp as well..
canons fire another good shot..:)

Hi Evelynn,
Splendid landscape. Beautiful colors and composition.
Including the road adds to the scale of the scene

So beautiful! Excellent detail! Very nice!
This one makes me kick myself for not taking any pictures when I was in Alaska in the early eighties...;-( I think you nailed the quality...;-) A hint of fall colors, clouds in a blue sky, sun light on the mountain... all very nice in my book!

ps I know what I'll be looking at as the wallpaper on my computer screen for the next couple of days...;-)

Wonderful !!!!
I realy love this view, Evelynn,
what a fantastic place to capture and to walk at. The mountains seem to be very close, exclellent shot, thanks

Bonjour Evelynn,
Superbe endroit, vous avez surment de beau souvenir.
Merci pour le partage!

Wonderful view, good sharpness of the picture and colours. I like this greyish mountains they look more misterious.
Best wishes

Majestic is a word that comes to mind.
Grandeur? Purple Mountain Majesties?
Though I usually prefer no human signs in a picture, I have to admit that the road here does give a sense of scale... which is awesome.
I really like the composition, though I cannot tell you why.
The light is very nice as well.

gorgeous landscape! great colors. tfs

Hi Evelynn,
What a very impressive photo. The DOF and lighting in this photo are really beautiful. Your selective PP work gave the photo a kind of 3-D effect. On the one hand this is great, but on the other hand it does show the PP work. Maybe if you made the curve on the bottom a little steeper and on the top a little more flat, the difference between the tree line and the mountain is less visable.
Anyway, the view is spectacular and the mountian is just impressive. I also like that you included the road in this photo, since it is a strong leadline.

I think the problem is that you have to think hard when there are things like poles, cables and people in the way and that is probably why you get the best pictures then. I'm the opposite - I just want to get away from the people....

As for the picture. It is beautiful, great detail and shaprness wonderful exposure and composition and all the hallmarks of an excellent picture. even the road is not too distracting.

Ricardo

A place of dreams Evelynn, very well depicted, for the captured point of view, the wonderful tones and their contrasts, the well demarcated different areas and an appropriate focus and sharpness.
I like it a lot... indeed.
Best regards... Ricardo

I really like it...the country road through the beautiful evergreen trees and the powerful mountains behind...I love it...TFS
Donna :o)

oops..smilie tomorrow

It seems that the further south you go in Canada, the more abrupt is the rise of the Rockies from the flat Praries.
I still think this shot has good composition between the road, trees and distant mountians thrusting intot he air. I like the contrast also from vibrant fall colour to distant tones of blue and green in the mountains.

Very nice work.
TFS and regards Milos

This looks like an awesome place Evelynn, I would love to be heading down that road with camera in hand and a full battery pack ;) I like your composition here and the road leads nicely into the scene. Good exposure on the sky without lose of detail. Well done.

Hi Evelynn, this is a nice composition. I like the saturation here. I wonder what this would look like with a little more autumn colour. Well done.

I really like the quality of light and the limited range of colors. The way the trees stand out against teh background is almost unreal.

colourrs, cadre, contrast, POV ...everything just great!

I love it !
