Amanita junquillea with slug.

As you can see this type of amanitas are very tasty fo slugs although not recomended for humans.

I alredy posted this mushroom and I want to apologize as first ident was wrong, (I bought a new book) now it is modified and the correct is shown. You can see it HERE It is a old post, if you havent read the note you may find interesting the description of how this poisons work in our bodies.

I am also still wondering if THIS other one found nearby is the same...

About the slug and after looking around, I did not find any which really matched, so forgive me. Sure it is a baby Arion, but I dont know the correct specie.

Hope you like!

That's a hell of a lot of mushroom for such a small slug. Delightful picutre Felipe, it is also amusing but whatever else it is a very good capture. The note is great too. Thanks for posting and well done on a good job.

Very nice Felipe. the addition of the snail makes this composition very interesting. Good work

A very hungryy slug. Well captured and presented and good note.

Wonderful detail of both slug and his meal. The earthy colors are great as it the overall composition.

its such a beautiful, tender picture. I love it.
No wonder they say mushroooms contain protein :-)

The correct name is Amanita gemmata (Fries 1838) Bertillon 1866 that is priority on Amanita junquillea Quélet 1876.
In fact is 1838 versus 1876 (see above).
I never understood the reasons why most of books write Amanita junquillea, but ICBN rules (International Code of Botany Nomenclature) tell cleary which is the correnc name.
Even in a recent monograph it is wrong, even if it was written by experts of this genus.
Sorry if I'm too meticulous, but it is professional bias, it is stronger than me, even if mycology is only a hobby.
Of course, from popular point of view, it isn't important and you can name it Amanita junquillea.
Marco

Just look at the texture inside the fungus! It's just SOOOOOOOOOOOOO awesome!
