[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The largest Kingfisher in the region, the male is unmistakable with its long heavy bill, its dark, white-spotted back and rufous breast. The female has a rufous belly.. Does not hover over water as frequently as the Pied Kingfisher preferring to sit on wires or branches overhanging water. Habitat : Wooded streams and dams, fast-flowing river in mountains and coastal lagoons. Common but thinly distributed throughout, being absent from the dry west.

Hi Farid,
What unique Kingfisher.
Details are very good and exposure is accurate.
One thing that I don't understand, how come it was shot at 4 seconds exposure ?!

TFS,
Shahar.

Hi Farid

This is a very different colour to what I associate with a Kingfisher. You captured him just at the right moment. Good eye contact and an excellent quality shot. TFS.

Fantastic capture, Farid!
Sharp, good pose and POV as well as good BG.
Your note about states that the Giant Kingfisher is absent from the dry west. This right, but I have seen it in Gambia, which is surrounded by the dry west. That was long before I went digital!
TFS, regards, Ivan

Hello Farid,
Splendid your picture.
The POV and DOF are a good ones, making the background so soft and nice to look at, and the bird is plenty of details, I like the way iyou catched it.
Congratulations,
JM

Hi Farid,
Very strange bird; never seen before. Look like some 'special edition' Kingfisher.
Wonderful bird...
BG is very good.
Pity (a bit) it is sitting on that 'thing'.

Hi Farid,
A very beautiful capture with such a great pose. The OOF BG really helps to focus on the Kingfisher and make the photo very pleasant to the eye. Great sharpness and exposure.
TFS,
Niek
