Extreme & Rugged Beauty

Growing in extreme conditions, the Limber pine is one of my favorite varieties of trees in southern Alberta. I find the Limber pine very artistic and unique in it's grown habits.

Doing a bit of research I found out that the Limber pine is suffering from a blister rust infection which is creating a high mortality rate. As much as one third of the population has died from this fungi in Glacier National Park, Montana and many of the remaining trees starting to show signs of the rust.

The further north into Alberta you go, the rust starts to diminish. It would be a real shame to see this rugged species of pine go extinct.

Hi Janice

I can understand why this specific type of tree is one of your favourites. Apart from their obvious well adapted properties to survive in such rugged terrain and environment their shapes are also very interesting and graceful.

Your composition is great and it clearly shows the onset of winter and I am sure a couple of weeks later there will be thick layers of snow covering the earth. The colours are well defined and that blue sky just looks super. The details are nice and sharp throughout the DOF and the exposure was well balanced.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Janice,
Hope the "rust" does not catch on this part of the world.
This is a unique register.
Hope someone of importance in the envionmental department sees this posting to be able to correct this malady on time.
