Obviously this frog does not have mosquito repelent, but I found this read quite interesting.

Frog 'key to mosquito repellents'

The malaria parasite is spread by mosquitoes.
A bottle-green Australian frog may hold the key to future mosquito repellents, a study says.
A University of Adelaide team found the secretions of the dumpy tree frog are effective at warding off mosquitoes.

Researchers found mice given the secretions remained bite-free for four times longer than those not, the Biology Letters journal reported. But experts said such repellents would only have a limited effect in fighting malaria, which is spread by mosquitoes.

The team also found two other Australian species - the desert tree frog and Mjoberg's toadlet - released mosquito repellent odour from their skin, although their secretions were not tested on mice. In the study, mice given the secretions from the dumpy tree frog remained bite-free for around 50 minutes compared to 12 minutes for an untreated group. However, mice given Deet, the chemical that is typically used in commercial mosquito repellents, were protected for up to two hours.

The researchers said the frog secretions should not yet be considered as an alternative to Deet, which was originally formulated for the US army after WWII. But they said: "The discovery highlights the potential of the unsung properties of amphibian skin.

"Many aspects of frog chemical ecology remain unexplored."

I found this info HERE.

Well Felipe, You have succeeded to amaze me once again ;)

A sure fire winner!

Hello FeCr!

Very interesting and slightly promissing for me note. Every biting insect just loves my body :-) As we can see this frog didn't use Deet :-) Very interesting and rare capture. Two 'friends' from different worlds. Great details and exposure, as always perfect use of flash. And you favourite double eye-to-eye POV :-)

Hola Felipe y Cristina,

Hi Filipe and Cristina
Nice to see you again here (after some time) and what a charming comeback!
This is a very cute and funny post!
The frog seems to be more interested in you and pretty much not bothered by the mosquito.
I really like the frontal POV here and the great and razor-sharp details all-around - both on the frog and the mosquito.
The colors are also gorgeous and very well saturated, the flash is well managed and the DOF is exceptional.
Very interesting note, too...we should study more ;)

Bravo and TFS

What a interesting note, really good information. I like the image as well. ALthough I've seen thousands of frogs I never saw that a fly (of what is it) landed on the head of a frog. Well captured! Regards, Jacob

Well done with a unique shot the detail is excellent and the poor frog still smiles :-) good angle and DOF is nice tfs rgds Necip

Hi Felipe&Christina
This picture really tell the ironic story, where the frog becomes the victim of the brave mosquito, quite extra-ordinary shot you present here, sure it's need a long time and extra-passion to get this really special moment, excellent dof, contrast and POV, TFS
