These time winter time shot. I took these picture at the coast of Baltic Sea in town Sopot. It was rely amazing moment with beach full of birds, especially swans. I already posted one photo from that day.

Mute Swan Cygnus olor

Polish name: Labedz niemy

The most common European swan. This bird is found naturally mainly in temperate areas of Europe and western Asia. It is very characteristic white bird with wingspan from 200 to 230 cm. The beak is orange with black thickening. Juvenile forms have gray beak without the thickening and gray feathers. On the photo we can see 8 adults and 14 juveniles. The coast of Baltic Sea is typical place where we can find Cygnus olor in the winter time.

Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Anseriformes
Family: Anatidae

Sopot is a small town in Eastern Pomerania District on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea in Poland. It's name is an old Slavic word meaning spring or source. Sopot has maintained its unique character of an early 18th century summer resort. It is also well known for the longest wooden pier in Europe (total length 515,5m), from which there is a view of the Gulf of Gdansk. The city is also famous for the Sopot International Song Festival. Famous Sopot citizen is Klaus Kinski. He was born in Sopot in 1926. At the time, Sopot was located within the territory of the Free City of Danzig. Right now in the Kinsky’s (original name Nakszynski) family house there is a pub called The Kinsky Pub. Very nice place to rest after a long walk at the beach. Especially after the winter walks.

If anyone knows the ID of the gulls please let me know :-)

Hola Krzysztof,
Una composición muy bella, rivalizando los blancos de los cisnes con las capas de hielo. Un cordial saludo

What a lovey photo, packed with quiet activity except for one rowdy gull. Well composed, from my point of view. The ice sheets make an interesting backdrop and the eye is lead up between them by the gulls and coots in the background. Oh, I just spotted a couple of mallards as well. A fun photo to examine.

Czesc Krzys,
Musze Ci powiedziec, ze to zdjecie srednio mi sie podoba. Glownie z powodu chaosu kompozycyjnego i dziwnego kadrowania.

Twoja poprzednia fotka z Sopotu byla o niebo lepsza.

No to tyle narzekania :-) Zreszta to oczywiscie kwestia indywidualnych pogladow :-)
A co do mew to moim zdaniem sa to juwenilne mewy srebrzyste (Larus argentatus).

Hello Krzysztof,
Oh, I see, this is from the winter of 2005.
Looks like a very vocal and articulate assembly of lots many birds.
Those symmetrical icicles formed at the bottoms of thick poles provide a nice backdrop to the assembly.
Well done and thanks.

Hi Krzysztof.
Similar scenes are very familiar to me. In some very cold winters many birds of passage, not had time to depart on the South, gather on the ponds and at seacoast nearby city. Many inhabitants of Odessa come to feed them.

I like captured scene, excellent exposure, sharpness and details of the birds, piles and water. Your note is very nice too. My best wishes and TFS.

bonjour krzysztof

Hello Krzysztof,
fascinating dense congregation of mute swans, their youngsters, and gulls. The icicles are the perfect adder to make this an outstanding document of a hard winter. I like the subtle hues of grey, brown, and white all over the picture.
With thanks, and best regards,

Hello Krzysztof,
This is amazing indeed. What a special moment, it almost looks like it was taken in B&W and that you colored their beak :) I like this winter environment a lot and those nice details you caught on all the bird. This POV and composition are very good. I didn't know that swans can live in a cold place. TFS,

Browsing through your Poland images, this one of the swans and gulls caught my attention. An interesting grouping and the narrative is a bonus. Nicely composed and created.
I wonder if these guys migrate?
