[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Brown Argus (Aricia agestis) is widely distributed throughout much of Europe, occuring as far north as Scania in Sweden and the S. midlands in England.

This is a female, her orange spots being more extensive on the forewing than that of the male.

I took this shot while on a bird-watching holiday on the island of Lesbos and though I was with a group of bird-watchers I couldn't help taking an occasional shot of a butterfly.

She is on the flower of Echium plantagineum, but she will lay her eggs either on Helianthemum or some species of Geranium

Hi Ivan,
This is a great capture of this butterfly!
I like so much the good details got, thanks to that wonderful light present.
The color's contrast are so good.
Stunning the focus even on the antennas, great DOF and the aperture used to get the rest so nicely blurred.
I like so much the diagonal composition in this wide format.
Congratulations, thanks for share and my best regards,
JM

Great POV,Excellent work.

So your user name on TN is derived from this lovely butterfly, Ivan :-)!
You have some very attractive pictures taken during your holiday trips and this one from Greece is a beauty.
The light tone of the image in the bright sunshine highlights those yellow markings along the edges of the butterfly's wings.
TFS and take care.

Ah,Ivan,
I see you made it to your namesake, Argus. You did a good job despite all the distraction by ornithologists. At the time ornithologists or botanists were a nuisance: all their attention was on birds or plants that never materialized (I exaggerate). But I learned that they too appreciate some distraction these days. You are one of the new breed (I am joking of course).
Cheers, Dietrich

Hello Ivan,
Excellent pov and composition. Great sharpness, exposure, and color saturation. Natural setting and blurry background that complement the butterfly nicely.

Hello Ivan
What a wonderful composition!! I like a lot the iridiscent color of the wings and the blue of the flowers. The sharpness and dof are excellent!
Congratulations and thank you very much for sharing.
My best wishes

Hello Ivan,
very pretty combination of Aricia agestis on Echium blossoms. (Whenever I thought to have captured that species it always turned out to be a female P. icarus.) Good details and colours in very strong mediterranean light, very nice composition.
Thank you! Best regards,
Peter

A little beauty, nice shot.

Hello Ivan,
Very nice close up.
Very well exposed, with excellent sharpness, detail, DOF and colors. Very well done!

Hi Ivan,
Excellent shot on this Brown Argus. Nice quality light and a spot on exposure have given beautiful color saturation. Nice sharp detail. I am amazed at the DOF that you acheived at this angle. The whole butterfly is sharp. Then a nice OOF backround. Looks great!
