Another local inhabitant of our local forest,

Common Treecreeper,

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Common Treecreeper, Certhia familiaris, is a small passerine bird found through much of temperate Europe and into Asia. It is a member of the treecreeper family. It is closely related to the very similar Short-toed Treecreeper. It has a generally
more northerly distribution than that species, although there is extensive range overlap in western Europe. Where both occur, Common Treecreeper tends to prefer conifers.

Common Treecreeper is the only treecreeper which breeds in Ireland, Great Britain and most of Scandinavia. It is a resident in woodlands throughout its range, and nests in tree crevices or behind the bark of introduced Giant Sequoia. Up to nine eggs are laid.

This is a small 12.5-14cm long bird, fairly drab in appearance, streaked brownish above and white below. It has long stiff tail feathers which help it creep up tree trunks like a mouse looking for insects. It has a long curved bill.

Hello Paul,
What a moment! I have never seen Treecreeper in the snow, let alone photographed it!
This is sharp and you have managed the contrast with the snow very well in the fine composition.
TFS and all the best,
Ivan

Hi Paul,

Lovely shot of this little bird in the snow. I have never seen a Treekeeper before - and I rarely see snow.

Nice and sharp showing off every detail.

I like the POV of this shot, with the bird looking down at the snow.
Very good exposure on the snow. The sharpness is spot on.
What a cute, exquisite little beak.

Hello Paul,
This is another bird that I never had the chance to see but I think that we have them here. I like this capture with those nice details and the snow :) I like pictures taken in the show! Exposure is very good and so is this POV. The only thing missing is a little light in its eye but we are not living in a perfect world :-) Well done and thanks,
Claudine

Ha Paul,
voor deze soort komen ze in Nederland van heinde en verre naar Limburg gereden. Maar ja, dan heb je ook wat. Maar nog lang niet zo veel als op jouw foto, want sneeuw hebben we hier niet. Mooi vastgelegd. Foto's in de sneeuw blijven vaak moeilijk. Zelf meer mislukte foto's dan gelukte. In zo'n geval is een camera met spotmeting toch wel een aanrader.
Groeten, Jacob

What a beautiful picture of this tree creeper. all mine have been in low light levels and never really worked out anywhere near as well as this.
It is an excellent picture of this tiny, timid bird - at least mine are!

This is a really great shot of this "hard to get" bird... I have tried so many times and just ended up with hundreds of unsharp and useless photos.

I take my hat of for you!

Excellent composition, sharpness and careful computer treatment.

Thanks for sharing/Bengt
