Hi Jay,
thanks for this very nice picture, it's a quite well-known sight here too, take a look a my Midwinter.
It look really cold with al the ice on the rocks and still the sea is open.
Good POV and nice deep. good details and nice colours.
Only a small nit, I think the horizon slant about 1 degree.
Well done, my friend.
Hi Jay,
A very poetic picture with the frozen big stones, the dark line of the trees in middle gives a nice contrast, the light and colour are very well.
Greetings from Belgium,
John.

Hi Jay
This is another amazing shot from you!
A very interesting phenomenon here - it must me "pretty" chilli there for the water to freeze like that on thoce big rocks :))
I really like thecomposition here again and i must say that you did something different here with the exposure (or probably only the changed POV helped mych) but you captured good definition including on the clouds and sky.
Very good work!
Bravo and TFS
Horia
Nice composition Jay !

Hi Jay,
So you east coast dudes coat rocks in ice, well we coat our roads in ice. I like this capture very much Jay, it's very pretty and the lighting is excellent. I see my seagull ( aka float ) is in the cove. Thanks for your talents.
Rick

Hi Jay.
Bravo, my friend. I like your shot very much. Its clearness, transparency, richness of lighting and colours are simply amazing. Low POV, excellent DOF and details of whole image impress so much too. Superb done and TFS. Thanks also for note.
Alexei.
Hi Jay
A lovely scene enhanced by the icy rocks. Well composed with a perfect low POV. Very nice work. TFS.
Fabulous capture of the icing on these rocks (better than I can do on a cake!!)
You must have had to crouch to get this POV: risky business, I'd say
TFS
Silke
Stunning portrayal of the rocks in a low pov, nicely composed within the context of the overall scene! Great detail, and proof that overcast days make for dramatic shots too!
Cheers

Hi Jay,
This is a cold presentation! :-)
I think you used a very good POV to present us this arrangement of frozen sea stones.
You did it pretty well with the whites on the exposition side.
I like so much the composition made with the stone's layer, the sea, the land and the sky.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Well done & TFS.
Hi Jay,
Hoe koud kry ek nou! Good impact value with this shot. One feels the cold by just looking at this. The rocks lead into the rest of the photo leading the eye to the distant shoreline. Well done.

PS Been offline for while.
Jay, composition is really great here.
Besides, excellent exposure (no overexposure at all upon the whites) and pov.
I like your note too.
Congratulations.
Lívio
Very interesting POV on this one!!! Looks
as if you were almost laying on the ground to
capture this photo.
Nice contrast, and overall a great composition!!
HI jay
great (and cold!)landscape with a outstanding composition and beautiful blue colours...a winter scene only possible in the northern latitudes ...the only ice here in Portugal is...on the refrigerator!
best regards
pedro
Hi Jay
So now it's become Lïït or am I being presumptuous? It still kicks the skaap out of Jaapkop though (chuckle).
This is a very interesting shot with the masses of ice clinging to the rocks yet the ocean is still fluid. I suppose when you guys go on an outing you don’t need to take any ice with you for the drinks. You simply break of an icicle from the nearest rock and walla, mission accomplished. It sure looks cold though. You must remember I see this through the eyes of a Zululander who is not accustomed to anything lower than +13°C. The only ice I ever see is when I open my refrigerator. Heck, I could catch the flu just looking at your posting.
You have captured excellent details on the rocks in the foreground and the exposure was spot-on to highlight the contrasts in the dark rocks and in the bright ice. Slowly but surely this shoreline and scenery are becoming on of the best know stretches of the Nova Scotia shoreline on this site.
Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot
PS. You kept me out of critiquing last night so this one is ±24 hours late (chuckle).

I have never really seen anything quite like this from the ocean... Mostly when it gets really cold, I am inland and see similar smaller events on rivers, but not on salt water... and you have such a build up of ice here as well.

Hi Jay,
An excellent winter landscape composition. The use of the ice covered rocks in the foreground makes a dramatic statement about the cold. Very good detail and clarity in the scene. Having just been to south Florida where it was sunny and 80 degrees, I think I prefer there. This is very beautiful, but to cold to long. Nice work!

Hi Jay,
brrr - even earth and air look both cold and wet there.
But you got hot and dry fire in you to make that shot.
The sun is touching that chilly scenery in a very pleasant way, and it did not burn even the brightest parts of the icy rocks - thanks to your excellent handling of light.
Thanks for this great, crisp, clear and cool report from Sambro Head that is getting a well known place to me.
With best regards,
Peter

Hi Jay, one of my first dates with my wife (some time ago) was to a beach, in early March. There were no crowds, in fact there was nobody else around, and there were great natural ice sculptures, not too dissimilar to this. I didn't carry a camera back then, but if I did... The shot is a good one. You've got good detail on the rocks and ice up front with good colour. I like the texture contrast you see here between the rock and the ice.
Thanks, John

Byt after the darkness comes the light, isn't it? After the Winter comes the Spring, and everything becomes even more beautiful.
In the end of the tunnel there's always some light...Even if it's only a train coming at you. :)

Hi Jay,
Lovely shot, I love the way you have emphasised the DOF by using the icy rocks and yet managed to maintain a good background. Well framed too. TFS
